This is Prabhu Simon Thomas from Chennai. I am a mechanical engineer by profession and managed to find find the forum through a friend of mine(already a member). I have always had aquarium at home and of late realised they were much more complicated than what I in mind. The previous ones were just water + fish + one pump+some aquatic plants with stone tied to its base. I am now very much interested in planted tanks with either native species or exotics from Amazon. I hope to gain a lot from the experienced people here.

I am Gyandeep from New Delhi.
I was re-introduced to fish-keeping by a colleague of mine a couple of weeks back and I have not had the best of starts, lets say I made a lot of mistakes and was not patient.
My first stint with this hobby was way back in 94-95 when I was 12 years old, at that time I was just happy to have them and after reading about all the requirements..cycling, pH level etc etc...I now realise they were not living in the best of conditions.
I now want to take this hobby seriously and i am sure this site will be of great help to me.

We are Arun and Aarthi, married recently and both of us are software professionals. We are from Coimbatore, for now settled in Chennai. We just started a tank of 20 gallons with 2 yellow labs, 2 white severums and 2 Mono angels. The tank has artificial plants, an under gravel filter, a pump and a sponge filter. We are very new to this hobby and we would appreciate any suggestions. Its very difficult to get details from the local fish shops as they are talking only with commercial aspects. Pls feel free to point out any wrong set ups in our aquarium.
Thank you and appreciate your inputs.

I've been a spectator of IAH from couple of years but never had oppurtunity to register here.
After being pushed by couple of my friends from AHH(Aquarium Hobbyists of Hyderabad), I finally joined this forum :)
I love Nature and Fish from my childhood, I remember picking up toads(thought to be fish) near my school(in class 3) and tried to raise them up till they started developing legs . As I grew up in a small village in West Godawari Dist of Andhra Pradesh, had lot of options to browse and explore nature. I don't know what fishes I caught and killed at that time
Long story short, I had a normal community tank of 3x1x1.5 Ft in hyderabad in 2007 that was my first tank I ever kept with my hard earned money (costed me around 3000 Rs). Then I had to move out of Country on Job and its been 10 months I am out of India, by the grace of Almighty settled well here and started with my hobby again.
I currently have a 20 Gallon Planted Tank with ADA Aqua Soil+Pressurized Co2+Lot of Plants+Apistos+Neons.
Planning to setup one Nano with a specific theme on my mind.
Oops, forgot to tell u that I work on Computers to fill my stomach [Professionaly I am a Systems Engineer]

Ladies and Gents.
This is Matt from New Delhi.
I am British and have been working here for about 15 months.
I have been keeping fish for 27 years, part of that time spend in the aquatic retail industry.
My main interest is Marines, especially coral propagation techniques etc. I really enjoy growing my own corals and have 2 tanks here in India at the moment. They are all in one cabinet. On top there is a 26x16x16 inch tank, lit with a 150W metal halide and with two tunze nanaostream 6025s for circulation. This has a central overflow which leads into a 24x14x14 tank that I use for coral propagation. This is lit by 4 x 24w T5 fluorescents and also has one Tunze 6025 for circulation. This tank overflows from a corner drain into a 26x16x16 inch sump where the water is filtered by an Aqua Medic Turboflotor protein skimmer. It then goes through a 24 hr lit refugium containing chaetomorpha algae. This finally overflows to the return pump section and the water is returned via a chiller to the main tank.
As I said, I really enjoying growing and propagating corals and am currently growing and propagating some fluorescent maze coral, green favia, a wide selection of different colour zoanthids (pink, orange, purple, green) and some simple soft corals and mushrooms.
I find the choice of livestock in India for marine aquarists terribly limiting, but that just makes finding an unusual coral all the more exciting. Any recommendations for good marine shops, or livestock suppliers who will ship to Delhi gratefully received. I have only found one shop in Delhi that sells Marines on a regular basis.
