PostPosted: Sat Jun 13, 2009 6:51 pm Post subject: Most sought after fishes Reply with quote

 Dear  Forum,

I  am  on  my  way  to  lay  my  hands  on  imported  cichlids  from  the  lake  Tanganyika,  Malawi  and  Victoria  region.  But  I  am  slightly  confused  as  there  are  so  many  varieties  of  them  available.  I  do  not  want  to  have  fronts.

As  I  said,  I  have  a  source  there  who  can  send  these  fishes  to  me,  so  I  want  to  know  which  are  the  ones  that  are  rare  and  sought  after.  These  fishes  will  be  in  a  5-8  feeter,  depending   on  the  need,  which  I  will  start  building  once  I  have  ordered  the  fishes.  I  am  looking  for  4  or  5  compatible  strains,  all  should  have  the  same  criteria  of  being  elusive  and  wanted.

Another  small  tank  30x18x18  I  have  where  I  plan  to  keep   smaller  cichlids  from  that  region.

Few  of  the  fishes  that  I  have  liked,  will  wait  for  your  inputs.

 Tanganyika
 Eretmodus  cyanostictus  Kigoma
 Callochromis  melanostigma  Burundi
 Xenotilapia  ochrogenys
 Xenotilapia  flavipinnis  Magara
 Neolamprologus  buescheri  Gombe
 Neolamprologus  speciosus
 Neolamprologus  ocellatus  gold

 Malawi
 Melanochromis  labrosus  Mbenji
 Pseudotropheus  demasoni
 Aulonocara  sp.  "Firefish  albino"
 Aulonocara  sp.  "eureka  red  albino"

 Victoria
 Haplochromis  zebra  obliquidens

Plan  to  do  a  complete  layout  and  post  the  pics  here  once  the  project  materializes.  Please  wish  me  luck  and  also  give  your  opinions  and  choices  freely.

 Many  many  thanks  in  advance,

Friends,  I  feel  that  all  Tangs  (except  Fronts)  are  rare  and  difficult  to  get  here  in  India.  I've  been  looking  to  buy  some  calvus  and  Julies  for  a  long  time  but  I  cant  find  them  anywhere.  Dev,  sorry  for  bothering  and  asking  this,  just  wanted  to  request  you  to  kindly  let  me  know  if  you  can  get  me  a  few  Tang-Cichlids  -  mainly  Calvus  and  Julies  ?  Will  be  a  great  help  and  I'll  be  forever  grateful  to  you...

 Kindly  let  me  know...

All  the  best  for  the  wonderful  tank  -  will  await  the  Pics  Smile
 Have  a  Wonderful  weekend  !
 Regards  and  Care

I  suggest  that  you  find  from  your  supplier  what  he  has  in  stock  usually.  You  have  quite  a  few  sand  sifters  in  your  list  and  they  are  not  always  available.

Kush,  I  will  sure  let  you  know  as  soon  as  I  receive  confirmation  from  the  guy.

Now,  would  request  experienced  people  about  the  safest  ways  to  land  the  fishes  to  my  doorstep  with  minimum  casualty.

Kindly  guide  me  a  little,  I  need  this  help  from  you.  I  am  thinking  in  the  lines  of  international  logistic  companies.

The  bag  the  fish,  put  it  in  a  styrofoam  box,  put  that  in  a  carton  with  your  name  and  address  on  it  and  send  it  via  air  cargo.

You  go  to  the  airport,  spend  2  days  arguing  with  customs  because  you  do  not  have  the  necessary  permits  and  end  up  with  a  few  boxes  of  fish  soup.
