Have  been  smitten  by  this  lovely  lovely  fish.  Watching  them  is  so  much  fun.

The  first  cichlid  I've  seen  which  "schools",  my  whole  batch  of  6  juveniles  are  always  within  touching  distance  of  each  other.

There  are  lots  of  charges  towards  each  other,  but  there's  no  fin/scale  damage  generally.  These  were  squabbling  even  in  the  fish  bag  !!

Always  in  the  "grazing"  mode,  one  pecks  somewhere  and  the  rest  jump  in  to  investigate.

The  "eye"  spots  on  the  dorsals  of  the  juveniles  Smile

No  other  fish  has  made  me  "keep  fish  the  right  way",  the  fact  that  I'd  been  craving  for  these  for  a  long  time  and  them  being  rare  definitely  a  factor.

Hope  to  grow  these  out  and  would  want  them  to  be  on  my  "have  bred"  list  :)

 Cheers,

 Awesome  school!
Everything  in  tank  looks  perfect(round  rocks,  wood,  etc)  except  substrate,  please  replace  it  with  sand.  It  can  be  made  into  a  proper  biotope  aquarium  with  minor  changes.

 Thanks  guys!

 Hamza,
Yeah  I  know  the  substrate  or  the  lack  of  it  is  the  ONLY  missing  part  of  this  biotope.  Tried  replicating  everything  that  I  saw  in  their  wild  habitat.
Will  be  doing  that  once  replace  the  tank  with  a  larger  one  soon  :)

 Cheers,

 Hayath
I  have  read  that  they  show  "communal  brooding"  i.e  juviniles  take  care  of  their  younger  brother  &  sisters.  Have  you  observed  this  behaviour.
 Nice  photographs  as  uaual.
