This  is  how  my  Marine  Tank  should  look  when  I  have  it  one  day.  Lots  of  inverts  and  few  fishes  and  like  you  woule  be  happy  if  most  of  it  is  local  and  can  contribute  something  back.

Lovely  tank  and  good  work  on  the  enviornment  part.  However  in  support  of  what  Rahul  and  Suraj  had  to  say,  it  was  not  personal,  so  please  dont  take  offence.  After  articles  like  Flower  Horns  found  in  Mumbai  lakes  and  Tilapia  and  Gambusia  being  found  every  where  in  Indian  rivers,  lakes,  ponds,  streams  etc,  and  the  native  fish  population  suffering  due  to  this,  is  causing  serious  concern  to  all  hobbyists  and  hence  only  the  warning.  People  like  you  are  the  right  ones  to  advocate  this  actually.

Please  post  some  close  up  pictures  of  the  lovely  tank  and  do  update  your  location  (I  know  you  are  not  from  Bangalore  as  there  is  no  sea  nearby  Smile   )  so  that  I  can  plan  on  how  to  visit  this  awesome  tank.

Good  going  and  keep  the  good  work  up.

 Cheers

 Hi  lycodon

Splendid  tank  and  glad  to  know  you  are  maintaining  an  area  and  spending  the  time  and  effort  to  give  something  back  to  nature.

I  have  been  an  avid  marine  hobbyist  for  many  years  and  have  more  of  a  retirement  plan  to  do  something  of  that  sort  and  to  setup  an  institution  for  marine  research.

I  firmly  believe  that  water  changes  goes  a  long  way.  Many  hobbyist  are  taken  aback  just  thinking  how  difficult  it  is  to  maintain  a  marine  tank.  But  i  think  if  you  have  a  basic  investment  in  place  initially  and  not  crazly  just  spending  on  equipment  and  follow  it  up  with  regular  water  changes  you  can  have  a  fantastic  tank  with  the  least  issues  and  diseases.

Keep  up  the  good  work....  do  update  your  location  ...incase  anyone  of  us  is  visiting..we  would  sure  love  to  catch  up  with  you  and  visit  the  spots  !!.

 Cheers

 Hi  Lycodon,

Excellent  tank.  Is  it  sea  water  for  your  local  reef   you  use  for  changes  or  do  you  use  artificial  salt?

This  is  awesome.  I'll  possibly  take  two  lives  to  even  get  there  so  all  I  can  do  is  admire  it  and  burn  up.  Marine  water  aquaria  are  way  beyond  me  as  I  live  in  Delhi  now  and  making  sea  water  is  a  tedious  process  this  far  inland.
But  one  day  I'll  keep  a  marine  water  tank  when  I  return  to  bombay

i  dont  think  making  seawater  is  difficult..........just  mix  up  the  water  as  directed  and  when  all  is  mixed  well..........add  it  to  your  tank.........

Really  great  tank.  Im  glad  that  you  decided  to  give  something  back  to  nature.  One  of  the  reasons  I  havent  got  a  marine  tank  (besides  cost  and  availability)  is  the  fact  that  most  of  the  livestock,  both  verts  and  inverts  come  directly  from  nature.  The  god  liverock  is  also  taken  from  nature.  It  isnt  as  sustainable  as  freshwater  fishkeeping  is.

Its  normal  beach  sand  mixed  with   crushed  coral  sand  available  in  at  the  LFS...
The  crushed  coral  sand  was  manually  crushed  to  sugar  grain  size!

 Excellent  Tank!!!

I'm  a  bit  curious  about  your  DSB.  How  did  you  go  about  crushing  the  coral  sand??  Aragonite  is  too  expensive  for  bigger  aquaria!  It  would  be  awesome  to  use  coral  sand,  i've  got  about  50kgs  just  lying  around  :-)

 Thanks
