To  all  those  devoted  IAHians  who  were  unable  to  attend  Aquatika  2009  due  to  various  commitments,  I  have  tried  to  bring  Mr  Amano's  magic  to  you  with  whatever  best  commentary  I  could.
If  there  are  any  errors  in  identifying  the  plants  it's  my  memory  that's  responsible.  Corrections  are  most  welcome.

A  very  big  Thank  You  to  all  the  volunteers  from  IAH  family  who  lost  sleep,  were  tired  on  their  feet  and  managed  the  whole  show  to  keep  the  event  smooth  and  efficient  all  day  long.
I  am  not  going  to  name  them  individually  as  I  am  scared  I  might  leave  some  one  out.  All  of  you  guys,  you  rock  and  deserve  a  massive  Thank  You.

The  hand  drawn  momento  presented  to  Mr  Takashi  Amano  by  UV  Umesh  with  all  names  of  IAHians  written  on  it.

Nayak  Thanking  one  and  all  for  their  efforts  delivering  the  Vote  of  Thanks

A  big  Thank  You  to  Mr.  Takashi  Amano  who  ceaselessly  signed  autographs  whenever  there  was  a  request  and  posed  for  pictures  as  many  times  as  there  were  requests.  The  boundless  energy  of  the  man  has  to  be  admired.

The  ADA  Japan  team  who  accompanied  Mr  Amano  -  Mr  Kondo  and  Mr.  Sasage  were  ever  ready  to  help  with  their  answers.
A  well  deserved  Thank  You  to  Ms  Nobuko  the  translator  is  a  must  for  her  help  in  bringing  the  Master's  thoughts  to  us.

The  Auditorium  with  the  two  massive  back  projection  screens  ensured  that  all  the  audience  saw  the  action  from  every  angle.

Aquatika'09  was  the  most  eventful  and  fun  filled  event  in  my  hobby,  rubbing  shoulders  with  the  man  himself  and  not  to  mention  all  the  IAH  guys  i  have  heard  about,  spoken  to,  chatted  via  mail  or  PM  but  never  met  in  person  ......  just  to  add  i  dont  think  i  have  laughed  so  much  in  2  days  in  a  long  long  time.

A  special  thanks  to  Madan  and  Gayathri  for  steering  this  whole  event  through  sleepless  nights  and  tons  of  challenges,  and  all  others  who  helped  in  organizing.

Thanks  one  and  all  .....  Had  a  great  time

Seetharam  I  promised  you  this  !

All  those  who  want  to  experience  Takashi  Amano's  magic  these  two  pictures  below  epitomises  it.
The  first  one  is  Seetharam's  Iwagumi  arrangement,  before  the  judging.

This  is  how  a  very  a  small  touch  by  Amano  transforms  the  layout.

Hats  off  to  the  man  !

This  is  the  man  who  toiled  day  and  night  to  make  this  event  a  Grand  Success  forgetting  to  eat,  skipping  lunches,  dinner,  and  what  not!

3  Cheers  to  his  whole  family   Clapping   Clapping   Clapping  and  to  each  one  of  the  iah  family  as  such............

Umesh's  layout  after  rearrangement  by  Amano

Umesh's  layout  after  Amano  made  minor  corrections.  He  had  placed  the  large  rock  on  the  left  almost  touching  the  glass,  that  was  the  only  flaw.  Umesh's  reasoning  -  Fish  will  swim  back  when  there  is  no  space.
 Amano  corrected  his  layout.

Vikramjit  Das  had  laid  all  the  rocks  flat  on  the  sand.  This  is  how  Amano  corrected  the  layout

Debarghya  choose  two  rocks  of  the  same  size  and  placed  them  equidistant  from  the  center,  creating  symmetry  in  the  aquarium.  This  is  the  layout  after  judging  and  corrections  by  Amano.  If  anyone  has  a  picture  of  his  layout  before  Amano  corrected  it  please  post  the  same  here.

Surya  choose  too  small  rocks  which  would  be  overgrown  by  aquatic  plants  there  by  hiding  them,  this  was  Surya's  final  layout..

Debarghya's  tank  before  the  Masters  correction;)

 Hope  this  is  the  scape?

Edit:  Umesh  my  mistake,  this  is  the  scape  by  Debarghya,  my  picture  is  after  the  correction.  I  have  edited  both  posts  accordingly  !.  Madan.

I  have  to  thank  Madan  for  giving  me  the  opportunity  to  be  the  host  for  the  show.  This  was  my  first  aquatica  as  well  and  imagine  rubbing  shoulders  with  Mr.  Amano  himself.  I  also  got  a  few  nice  pictures  with  me.  He  was  totally  agreeable  and  signed  almost  all  certificates  of  the  participants  and  people  had  more  than  one  picture  with  him,  which  he  posed  for  happily.

He  was  also  dressed  by  Mr  Bansal   with  a  pagadi  during  his  presentation  in  the  morning.  All  in  all,  thanks  to  everyone  for  being  a  part  of  this  event,  it  would  be  that  much  incomplete  if  you  hadn't  come.  Now  I  can  map  more  names  to  their  faces,  rather  than  looking  at  weird  avatars  Smile

Congrats  to  the  winners  of  the  contest.  Thanks  to  Gayatri  f  or  never  ending  supply  of  coffee's  to  mention  one  of  the  innumerable  things  she  helped  manage.

Waiting  for  the  next  one  Smile

 Three  cheers

PS:  All  those  who  have  pictures  of  me,  kindly  pass  it  on.  You  can  upload  it  online  or  email  it  to  me.
