Thanks for the pictures Madan ... I completely agree, the small degree change in the angle makes a lot of difference , still a lot to learn and master.
Madan i would like to dedicate this Iwagumi Scape to you , had it not been your post below which i had stumbled across which got me curious and interested in Iwagumi Layouts and concepts in the first place , i dont think i would have studied this concept at all and be on that stage on 4th July'09.

So Thank You for your inspiration and encouragement for me and lot others on IAH |

Happy Birthday i A H
This was my first Aquatika experience and I have no words to express how much I enjoyed the Event.
A big thanks to one and all from the iah for making this happen and look forward to the next one
Missed our most humorous friend Trevor & his nonstop jokes during the event due to his ill health (hope he is now fine)

Seetharam, after listening to Amano talk about Iwagumi, the tank in that thread does not even qualify ! . I started the thread for a lark as at that time no one on IAH was considering any aspect of Aquascaping. It was more of plonking plants in the sand. I thought kicking off a discussion with a tank setup might get people interested in aquasaping.
The largest rock must be placed to the LEFT of center and must be inclined towards the left.
The basic ratio of 2:3 must be adhered to in ANY layout. No compromises.
This is the golden rule I heard him tell us !
In my tank all large rocks are placed to the Right of center !! |

True Madan ..... But your intentions were to get people interested ..... Well it definitely got me thinking and reading up about it ..... today i can say "Yes, I can setup an Iwagumi Layout" .... If you had not started that thread probably today i would have said "What is Iwagumi ?" |

Trevor was down with a viral infection and just could not make it to Aquatika on Sunday!
People would have had their ears full if he was around! |

Watching Amano do the planting was a huge lesson in itself.
The plants are held in the left hand and planted into the substrate with the right hand holding the forceps. Once the plants are in the substrate the left hand gently places the plants pointing forward over driftwood. The planting is done front to rear.
Check out my pictures in this thread to understand what I am saying better.
The water is filled from the front of the aquarium, and as the tank fills up the stem plants rise upright with practically NO entanglement.
Maaaan ! How many times have I uprooted plants trying to separate them, and I hated stem plants for this. |

Signing numerous autographs without a moments hesitation. Here Amano is autographing Venket's book.
