|
|
Hi
I came back from Aquatika to find that my four pin Frontier timer has conked out. Checking with a line tester shows a slight glow even when the timer is off, there is a good glow when its in on position, but the neutral output pin also shows a slight glow in this position. No equipments, lights or power head work from the timer.
Is it possible to repair this timer? Any suggestions as to who might do it?
More importantly is it worthwhile trying repair it (considering that the whole thingy is roughly around Rs 600/- only in Kochi) ? Would it be better to chuck the damaged one out and buy a new one? |

Hey Unni,
Sorry to hear that, I have tried my hands to get some of these fixed, but never been successful. The person who says he can fix them talks of prices for repair in the range of 300-400, thats as good as getting a new timer perhaps !.
IMO the best is to simply replace it and live worry free.
Cheers

Hi Unni,
You can contact Deepak Brid, he may help you out. But as already said by Nirav, it would be better if you replace the timer with a new one! |

Hi,
All that it may require is a change of battery ! |

Ravi
I forgot to post something in the initial post. The screen shows the clock and timer reading perfectly and the On Off timing are still displayed on it. So I think that its unlikely to be the battery
Thanks Nirav and Rocky |

Unni,
My timer showed the same problem couple of weeks back... I tried fixing it.. but it was coming around the same cost which you had mentioned..So guess, its better to get a new one...

I got mine fixed for 150 bucks (The relay had conked off) and then it went kaput again.
I didi'nt bother again to get it repaired.
I guess if the repair cost is about 50% of its cost price....it would be better to buy a new one. |

Hi Unni,
I think it is still OK to give a try by changing the battery.
The battery may have enough power for the Led display but not enough power to operate the relay switch.
Or it can be issue with fuse.
See this link.

@ Sujo,
The battery inside the timer is only to run the clock and not the relay switch. The relay is a 48Volt and it would function only when the mains power it ON. If you do not see the time in the LCD display, then it shows that the battery is out and time to replace the battery. |

Thanks Shelly.
I was thinking that the battery was controlling both.
What you said is correct.
When the main is not connected, we will not hear the sound of relay ON and OFF. |

Hi, There is nothing to worry. Unscrew four screws located at the back. Remove the battery. Replace the same value of the battery. Close the back panel and tight with screws. Connect the timer and you can find its working.
