 Hi  All,

There  is  Red  patch  on  one  of  the  dorsal  fin.

Yesterday  morning  it  was  fine,  but  when  i  came  from  office  suddenly  i  notice  this.  Is  this  any  bacterial  infection  and  how  can  i  cure  it?.

I  am  doing  50%  water  change  every  week  and  my  tank  dimensions  are  2.5X1.5X1.5.  After  noticing  this  i  had  changed  50%  water  and  added  rock  salt  to  it.  But  she  is  active  and  taking  food.  Am  feeding  her  with  Taiyo  Arowona  pellets,  Hikari  Cichild  Staple  and  Excel.  Monday  morning  i  gave  her  fresh  market  prawns.

Am  bit  worried.  I  would  be  very  thankful  if  you  guys  could  provide  me  some  input.

DO  larger  WC  ,might  be  due  to  ammonia   infection,It  will  go  if  water  conditions  are  good  .ADD  little  salt  for  eliminating  bacteria  .Chk  for  few  more  days  and  add  any  anitibiotic  for  recovery.

I  agree  with  Jibran.  Nothing  looks  wrong.  Keep  some  salt  in  the  water  and  do  another  50%  water  change.  Things  should  get  well.  Only  doubt  as  it  is  in  one  fin  only.

 Thanx  guys,

Sorry  guys  it  is  not  the  dorsal  fin,  i  think  it  is  pectoral  fin.  The  red  swelling  or  patch  (it  is  quite  large)  is  exactly  at  the  joint  of  pectoral  fin  with  the  body.

that  was  understood  when  you  posted  the  thread
and  there  isn't  any  problem  with  the  fish

some  of  the  some  times  with  all  the  bumping  into  things  and  glass  banging  they  do,  there  is  always  a  probability  that  he  might  have  got  hurt  or  sumthin

the  fish  wasn't  suffering  from  anything
they  just  gave  you  the  common  meds,  which  are  given  to  fish  just  so  that  if  there  are  any  worms,  they  are  gone.

What  did  they  give  you  as  meds???
i  am  guessing  metrozole  or  metronidazole,  which  wasn't  required  as  there  wasn't  anything  wrong  with  your  fish

You  are  rite  Jib,  they  gave  me  metronidazole.  Actually  my  fish  was  not  fine,  her  appetite  went  down,  and  her  stomach  was  bloated.  It  was  full  even  though  it  was  not  taking  proper  feed.
