Hi,
I recently went to a shop and ask for epsom salt and he has no idea what i was talking about.
I searched and got that epsom salt's local name is "Pakistani salt".I finally got it.
when i came home my mom told me its Sendha namak. The one we use in fast .
technically speaking over the findings from the net. Sendha namak is rock salt.
If sendha namak is rock salt. Then what am i having. i got this Pakistani salt AKA epsom salt.
for 30rs a kg.If anyone from delhi can tell me where i can find this epsom salt
or is the right salt

and what is its common name.

I think what you have is Potash Alum.
Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulphate. |

You should ask Epsom Salt in any Medical store , you will get it there , you won't find it in any general stores .

| Its Magnesium Sulphate and you can get it from any Medical Store. Its an Osmotic Laxative. I guess you could also get it from a Lab / Chemical Store... |

If the one you are holding in your hand is Rock Salt, it can also be used while treating diseases specially wounds etc.
Why do you want Epsom Salt for? |

bunty, if you are not sure what you are holding, please dispose it.
Epsom salt can be purchased in a big medical store which also sells beauty products. You will have to say "Epsom Salt" only.
If you want to buy it from a lab chemical distributor, please ask for Magnesium Sulphate or Magnesium Sulphate hepta hydrate. |

If you buy it from a lab chemical store, you cannot use it as a laxative atleast on humans. Most lab products have a slight heavy metal contamination. |

| Pakistani salt is Himalayan rock salt left by the Jurassic sea in rock fissures and hand mined. It has 84/85 different elements and has a pinkish tinge. There is another Himalayan rock salt which is crystalline, white to transparent, and nearly 99.9% pure NaCl. Unfortunately neither is Epsom salt, the other common name for which is Magsulf and which is indeed Magnesium Sulphate heptahydrate. |
