thought  of  rescaping  my  90  litres  tank.

 dimension:  30  x  12  x  15
 lights:  2x  18watts  trulite  tubes
Dosing  :  Micros,  Macros(aquatic  remedies,  suited  this  tank)
CO2:  DIY  diffused  through  a  Reactor.
Flora:  common  java  fern  ,  java  fern  Windelov,  java  fern  needle  leaf,  other  java  fern  (short  fat  leaves),  anubias  nana  gold,  anubias  barteiri,  anubias  longofolis(i  guess),  christmas  moss,  flame  moss.
 Fauna:  4  tuxedo  angels

This  is  the  hardscape  that  i  will  be  following.  the  left  side  is  somewhat  o.k  for  me.  suggest  me  for  the  right  side  of  the  tank  as  i  am  not  sure  how  to  make  that  look  pleasing  to  the  eye.

the  concept  will  remain  the  same  for  the  right  with  the  back  corner  having  some  plants.  the  foreground  under  the  wood  will  remain  empty.  and  the  are  in  the  middle  will  have  tenellus  and  hairgrass  mixed(mostly  for  the  back  side).  however  i  will  leave  the  area  in  the  front  middle  as  empty.  i  am  using  Ferka  aquabase  mixed  with  gravel  for  the  areas  that  are  to  be  planted.

please  suggest  me  what  i  can  do  to  make  the  right  side  look  cool.  any  additional  sloping,  rock  work  etc  needed  for  the  right  look??

and  this  is  a  low  light  tank.  so  i  don't  think  i'll  even  have  any  stems  in  mind.

I  am  open  to  all  ideas.  so,  feel  free  to  suggest.

just  to  add  a  point.  this  is  just  the  demo  layout.  major  changes  and  adding  of  the  Ferka  aquabase  and  cleaning  the  entire  tank,  and  the  final  rescaping  will  be  done  tomorrow.

I  like  the  way  it  looks.  Nice  choice  of  plants.  Terrific  looking  Tuxedoes.  A  few  points  though.

Since  this  is  not  a  very  big  tank  to  bring  some  focus  to  the  right  side.

 1)  Try  using  fewer  branches  of  your  driftwood.  Its  hogging  the  limelight.  Appears  too  tightly  grouped  in  my  view.  This  is  the  initial  stage,  when  moss  fills  in  will  lose  its  perspective  i  guess.

 2)  I  personally  like  scapes  with  narrow  leaf  java  ferns.  Would  love  to  see  the  right  part  filled  with  these.  I  suggest  you  elevate  the  right  portion  a  bit.

Keep  the  scape  simple  and  just  enjoy  the  healthy  plant  growth.  I'm  sure  you  could  easily  make  changes  as  the  scape  matures  given  the  nature  of  plants.

Will  love  to  follow  its  progress.  Keep  us  posted.  Thumb Up

thanks  a  lot  for  the  useful  comments  Rahul,

Elevation  on  the  right  hand  side:  i  had  this  in  mind  but  as  i  had  left  half  the  sand  to  dry  out,  i  was  not  able  to  give  it  the  elevation.  final  scape  will  have  twice  the  elevation.

driftwood:  i'll  try  to  spread  the  wood  a  bit  or  might  take  one  of  them  off.

i  have  narrow  leaf  but  i  have  lesser  quantity.  i'll  extensively  use  windelov  as  i  have  quite  many  of  it.  however  'll  have  to  look  out  for  more  narrow  leaf.  where  shall  i  place  the  narrow  leaf  by  the  way?

 Hi  Muddassar,

The  placement  of  the  dirftwood  is  good  and  the  scape  has  good  potential.

IMO,  you  could  do  with  some  carpet  plant  and  forget  the  elavation  bit.  I  think  the  tank  will  look  great  with  a  good  carpet  and  the  way  the  drift  wood  has  been  placed.

 Simple  and  neat!

 Regards,
 Surya

 thanks  Surya,

i  am  thinking  of  Tenellus  and  hairgrass  mixed  and  spread  among  the  rocks(front  and  mid).
The  crypt  will  go  at  the  extreme  left  corner.  the  driftwood  area  will  not  have  any  plantation  beneath  it.  maybe  some  low  height  crypts  that  grow  less  tall  and  more  bushy.  i  have  just  added  the  ferka  aquabase  and  the  entire  thing  is  complete.

i  will  fill  in  the  water  tomorrow  and  from  next  weekend  i'll  start  adding  plants.  no  lights  for  these  five  days.  the  tank  will  be  left  with  a  filter  and  the  entire  tank  covered  by  curtain.

i  guess  tenellus  will  be  o.k  for  my  tank.  as  the  ligyts  are  just  2-2.5  wpg.  fertilizer  will  be  aquatic  remedies  macro/micro  and  DIY  CO2  diffused  with  a  reactor.

suggest  what  plants  shall  i  add  among  the  rocks.  the  plant  should  grow  easily  and  should  not  completely  overshadow  the  rock  work.

Your  scape  is  looking  good.  Add  some  tall  plants  in  right  and  develop  carpet  in  the  middle.

 Hi  all,

the  scape  is  finalized  and  water  is  filled.  will  cycle  the  tank  for  20  days  before  adding  any  fish.
i  am  having  all  low  light  plants  so  the  lighting  will  be  4-5  hours  a  day  for  initial  2-3  weeks.

 Hey  Muddassar,

 Your  tank  looks  good.
What  are  you  planning  to  add  on  the  right  side?
Isn't  the  powerhead  too  big  and  powerful  for  your  tank  size? Also  its  spoiling  the  looks  of  your  tank.

right  hand  side  will  use  hairgrass  and  tenellus  ....but  they  will  not  be  very  densely  planted.
they  will  be  planted  infront  of  the  rocks/behind  the  rocks  etc.

also  the  filter  is  just  400  lph  for  90  liter.  quite  o.k  i  guess.  earlier  i  had  hangback  filter.  it  resulted  in  more  surface  agitation  and  less  flow  inside  the  water  and  that  meant  BBA  algae.  so  this  time  i  am  using  the  internal  power  filter
for  the  flow  and  to  minimize  the  surface  agitation.

tank  looking  much  better  now  with  some  of  the  drift  wood  removed...good  you  took  the  suggestion  from  Rahul...
as  suggested  on  the  phone  keep  the  right  hand  side  from  top  empty...you  can  put  some  dwarf  varieties  ...go  ahead  with  your  plan  of  tenellus  and  dwar  hair  grass....i  will  come  this  weekend  to  take  the  pieces  of  driftwood  you  removed....keep  it  safe  for  me   Very Happy

 Hi  Muddassar,

I  am  not  planted  expert.  But  this  year  I  am  starting  a  24"x10"x10"  hi-tech  planted  tank.  Now  doing  some  R&D.

Anyway  for  righthand  my  choice  is  some  rocks  with  some  tall  &  bushy  plants.  (Like  Pogostemon  helferi,  Pogostemon  stellatus  etc)
Foreground  &  middle  u  can  go  for  some  carpet  plant.

Till  now  your  scape  looks  fine.

Though  I  am  not  Planted  Tank  expert  so  pls.  never  mind.

Way  to  go  Muddassar.  Will  watch  this  one  closely.  I  have  something  like  that  planned  down  the  line.

By  the  way  what  did  you  do  with  all  the  ferns?
