Yogo,  this  poor  farmer  never  forces  order  on  any  fish,  except  for  attempting  'breeding  on  command'.  They  often  do  it  before  my  request.   Very Happy

The  fish  is  crying  because  it  has  no  tankmates,  substrate  or  plants.  You  cannot  see  the  tears  because  of  the  water......

Yo!  The  Argentine  Humphead  with  fry  in  her  mouth.

As  Ashwin  said,  it  is  too  small  size  to  do  it;  just  2  inches  now.

They  are  known  to  grow  to  about  7  inches.  Hence  my  take  was  to  spare  a  few  fish  from  the  lot   (  3  males  and  2  females  )  as  the  brood  stock  and  keep  them  in  a  tank  of  their  own  and  wait  for  many  more  months,  until  they  breed.  To  my  surprise,  on  5th  Oct  morning,  I  saw  a  school  of  free  swimming  fry  closely  being  followed  by  one  of  the  females.  Just  before  I  could  peep  in  a  bit  more  closer  to  have  an  estimate  of  fry  count,  all  the  fries  darted  back  into  their  mom's  mouth  at  an  unbelievable  speed.  She  then  backed  off  and  joined  the  adult  group  with  a  mouth  full  of  her  offspring.  Only  then  I  realised  why  she  wasn't  eating  since  past  week  almost.

Now  came  the  another  surprise.  Around  2  pm,  Just  felt  like  giving  the  other  female  a  gravidity  check  over  belly  /  ovipositor.  Soon  as  I  caught  her  off  the  net,  she  spat  out  a  bunch  of  free  swimming  fry.  With  a  mixed  reaction  of  OMG  and  Oops,  I  quickly  released  her  back  into  the  tank.  She  darted  back  to  the  extreme  corner  of  the  tank,  but  had  enough  courage  to  swim  back,  looking  for  the  fry.  The  moment  both  (fries  and  mom)  spotted  each  other,  she  guided  all  of  them  into  her  mouth  in  a  flash.  Took  a  lot  of  time  before  deciding  to  spit  the  lot  out,  again.

A  bit  of  stats,  that's  really  making  me  think..
All  the  5  fish  were  separated  on  12th  or  14th  Sep,  as  they  were  confirmed  sexes  and  appeared  in  good  health.  All  these  days,  after  putting  them  aside,  all  5  kept  together  most  of  the  times,  except  for  a  brief  brawl  by  the  alpha  male  during  the  feeding.  I  never  noticed  any  nesting  site,  nor  the  females  refusing  food  (except  for  one  on  hunger  strike  since  last  week).  Really  wonder  when  did  all  this  happen.
