Lovely  fish  bro!  Are  these  by  any  chance  from  Sarawut?  Or  are  they  from  the  other  guy  we  discussed?
The  finnage  makes  me  think  so  Smile

Stunning  Ram...Now  Ram  do  you  just  release  the  male  and  female  together  in  the  tank  just  like  that?...And  leave  them  aside?...Did  the  female  get  nipped  by  the  male  on  any  occasion?

Yup  the  female  is  from  Sarawut  and  the  male  from  BigM  in  Chennai.

No  the  female  was  behind  the  partition  for  a  day  till  the  time  male  stated  to  build  the  nest  and  then  I  released  the  female.

I  used  to  have  plants  in  spawn  tank  every  time  but  right  now  I  just  going  by  one  of  the  breeders  advice  to  have  nothing  in  the  tank  cos  both  male  and  female  are  of  same  size  and  the  chances  of  one  getting  seriously  hurt  is  less  and  also  I  always  keep  an  eye  on  them  all  the  time.

After  a  tragic  ending  to  the  orange  HM  female  which  jumped  out  of  the  jar  and  committed  suicide  two  weeks  back  I  thought  il  try  my  luck  with  a  red  HM  female  day  before  yesterday.
I  set  up  my  spawn  tank  that  night  and  the  male  started  building  the  nest  instantly  and  I  released  the  female  yesterday  evening  and  today  Spawning  happened  for  more  then  2  hours  and  seeing  this  there  was  no  limit  for  my  Joy   Bounce

Hera  are  some  pictures  of  the  spawn.

but  my  excitement  did  not  last  long.  In  just  3  hours  there  was  a  very  very  bad   news  for  me.
 this  is  what  happened...............

doth  know  how  this  happened,  water  has  entered  inside  the  glass  chamber  making  a  direct  contact  with  the  heating  coil  and  the  thermostat  did  not  cut  off  and  the  water  boiled  to  38C  cooking  both  the  male  and  the  female      Sad   Crying or Very sad
there  are  up  to  500  to  600  eggs  still  in  the  nest  but  am  not  sure  if  they  are  gona  hatch.

 thats  really  bad  mate,
as  a  betta  keeper  i  can  understand  the  sudden  end  of  joy  into  a  tragic  end  Cheer Up
BTW  was  a  heater  necessary  in  the  tank,  i  dont  use  heaters  even  in  the  winters  when  the  tank  temperature  is  around  18C-  20C  but  the  bettas  do  well.

Actually  the  ideal  temperature  for  the  bettas  to  spawn  is  28c  to  29c  and  since  my  fish  room  is  a  open  balcony  the  temperature  keep  varying  from  morning  to  night,  at  mid  day  during  this  season  the  water  temp  is  25c  to  26c  and  during  night  its  23c  to  24c  so  I  had  to  use  a  heater  for  better  result  and  there  should  be  a  constant  temperature  for  the  frys  to  survive.

Now  there  is  question  in  my  mind   which  is  constantly  killing  me..........  Sad
will  the  eggs  hatch  after  a  sudden  rise  in  temperature  from  38c  and  back  to  28c  ?
