 Hey  Sid

Do  you  know  juvenile  Leos  (Black  Diamond)  costs  much  higher  than  juvenile  Golden  Crossback  aros?  :)

Quality  of  rays  with  LFS  cannot  be  guaranteed.
Random  you  see  them  at  Maharashtra  Aquarium  (Kurla)  as  well,  here's  motoro  I  shot  at  their  shop  last  year.

It's  funny...I  have  never  even  stepped  inside  Maharashtra  Aquarium  because  it  look  really  really  dodgy  probably  due  to  the  fact  that  it's  right  next  to  Aakar

I  guess  appearances  can  be  deceptive.  I  will  definitely  check  it  out  later  today  or  tomorrow.

I  had  not  even  seen  these  freshwater  rays  for  sale,  let  alone  considered  buying  one  right  now...

But,  these  are  definitely  in  my  wish  list..

 Regards,
 Sid

I  have  seen  some  at  Aakar  too.  Also  one  LFS  guy  at  mulund  was  trying  to  sell  me  one  for  XXXX  bucks,  saying  that  this  is  the  new  thing.  Btw,  you  need  really  deep  (from  font  to  back)  tanks  for  these  guys,  considering  their  adult  size.

Question  to  the  Mumbai  people:  Are  LFS  and  those  at  Kurla  and  Crawford  OK  with  people  (like  me)  taking  pictures  of  the  "merchandise"?

Kurla  is  just  about  a  5-10  minute  drive  from  my  place.  So  I  go  there  every  other  weekend  just  to  see  if  there  are  any  interesting  fish.  (My  cousin  was  setting  up  a  tank  for  Gouramis,  so  I  got  him  a  couple  of  pairs  of  Pearl  Gouramis  in  my  last  visit.)

I  also  go  to  my  fav  LFS  at  Chembur  on  the  way  back..

I  was  wondering  if  LFS  guys  and  those  at  Kurla  are  OK  with  people  taking  pictures  of  the  fish  on  sale?

 Regards.

I  guess  you  are  talking  about  Lakeland  the  shop  next  to  Aakar.
Lakeland  seems  to  be   dodgy  but  stocks  lots  of  natives  and  shrimps.
Maharashtra  aquarium  is  in  the  lane  next  to  where  Aakar  is  located.

Maharashtra  aquarium  is  in  the  lane  next  to  where  Aakar  is  located.

If  you  have  not  yet  seen  the  Aakar  in  the  same  lane  as  Maharashtra  Aquarium,  you  are  missing  what  is  probably  the  best  collection  (and  display)  of  fish  in  the  entire  city.  (If  are  approaching  the  area  from  the  Eastern  Express  Highway  going  towards  the  Kurla  Railway  Station,  the  first  lane  (of  the  two  lanes)  has  both  Maharashtra  Aquarium  and  (one  more)  Aakar.  The  next  lane  has  majority  of  the  store,  including  two  more  outlets  of  Aakar  (which  are  all  owned  by  the  same  people).

I  could  only  visit  that  area  at  around  4:30  today  when  the  larger  Aakar  and  Maharashtra  Aquarium  were  both  closed..

The  new  arrivals  seem  to  be  the  relatively  unremarkable  Bala  Sharks,  Rainbow  Sharks  and  Redtailed  sharks..  A  couple  of  the  shops  (incl  the  one  right  next  to  the  Driving  School)  has  some  beautiful  Electric  Blue  Cichlid  (Melanochromis  Johanni)  http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=blueelectriccichlid

One  shop  also  had  Elephant  Fish  :  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormyridae  which  I  have  not  seen  anywhere  before..

Unfortunately,  I  didn't  see  any  rays  anywhere.

 Regards,
 Sid

Prime  Kurla  LFS  shutter  down  by  2pm  on  Sundays.
Currently  Pisces  Aquascape  at  Crawford  have  motoros  in  various  size  priced  at  XXXX  &  XXXXX  range.
You  can  also  see  your  favorite  arowanas  at  this  shop,  RTGs,  Chilly  Reds  &  Violet  Fusion  Reds  sourced  from  Rainbow  Aquarium  Singapore.
Owner  Shahzad  is  cool  guy  to  meet  and  his  shop  is  always  full  of  exotic  stuff.

 Thanks  Yogesh.

I  will  try  to  check  Picsces@Crawford  Market  next  weekend..

(I  think  some  people  here  might  have  already  guessed  this,  but  I  am  sort  of  an  "impulse  buyer"..  Hence,  I  try  to  avoid  Crawford...As  buying  fish  (like  my  Silver  Aro)  on  "impulse"  has  relatively  less  complications  (a  180-200gal.  tank)  when  compared  to  "impulse"  buying  a  little  Cocker  Spaniel..Smile)

 Regards,
 Sid
