 I  see  that  lot  of  people  here  have  anemone  in  their  tank  and  that  too  carpet  anemone.  But  most  of  their  tanks  are  FOWLR.  You  know  they  can  save  a  lot  of  money  and  headache  by  not  having  that  anemone  that  need  intense  light.  That  will  save  on  power  bill.  Also  you  need  to  invest  in  a  chiller  to  cool  the  tank  down.

 I  recently  managed  to  get  a  good  deal  from  an  LFS...paid  around  Rs.XXX  for  a  tomato  clown  and  a  carpet  anemone...What  really  surprised  me  is  that  the  LFS  chap  had  two  Sebae  Clowns,  one  tomato  clown,  a  yellow  tail  blue  damsel  and  a  three  spot  damsel  with  the  carpet  anemone,  with  a  crushed  coral  substrate  and  only  a  Boyu  internal  power  filter  and  a  40W  CFL  bulb....and  surprisingly,  the  anemone  seemed  very  healthy  and  active...!  Surprised

 But  still,  I  have  come  to  realise  that  I  may  have  made  my  first  mistake  in  the  hobby...i  am  hoping  not....!  Confused

 IN  this  hobby  you  measure  the  success  over  a  long  period.  Also  the  anemone  will  be  alive  for  a  while  but  eventually  they  will  die  off.  The  aim  of  our  hobby  is  not  just  to  keep  these  animals  alive  but  to  provide  them  with  an  envoirment  that  resembles  as  close  as  they  experience  in  nature.

 I  have  a  maroon  clown  in  my  250g  and  he  host  a  bubble  coral.

 @ajinkya  -  Did  you  verify  that  claim.  Very  Few  LFS  do  ethical  business  these  days.  The  very  fact  that  he  gave  you  an  anemone  with  your  tank  not  even  being  established  for  more  than  a  month  I  guess,

 Well  a  power  filter  can  surely  run  a  marine  Fish  only  tank  with  no  problem  at  all.  At  the  LFS  usually  one  does  not  keep  fish  for  longer  periods  and  most  of  the  time  water  changes  are  often  since  most  of  the  water  goes  with  the  fish  you  sell.

 The  key  to  the  marine  hobby  is  patience.  Go  Slow  and  easy  take  your  time,  think  before  you  jump,  especially  clowns  are  easy  ich  carriers  so  ensure  you  do  quarantine  them  well.

 @gremlin

 The  reason  why  most  people  have  carpets  is  cause  thats  the  most  common  available  anemone  in  our  country  and  it  has  some  nice  vibrant  green  colours  which  attracts  a  lot  of  hobbyist  who  start  new  in  the  hobby.  I  am  sure  in  the  long  run  most  of  them  learn  that  the  maximum  number  of  fish  deaths  in  their  tank  is  due  to  the  carpet  gulping  them  up.

 Like  Nash  said,  the  LFS  will  claim  anything  to  make  that  sale  also  that  he  sold  you  a  anemone  with  the  clown  for  a  new  tank  tells  a  lot  about  his  reputation.

 that  LFS  was  clearly  lying  Ajinkya.  they  do  that  all  the  time.  You'll  rarely  come  across  a  LFS  that  is  honest.  The  best  part  is  they  manage  to  keep  their  livestock  just  till  someone  buys  them.
