hey  guys  finally  started  the  stage  one  of  my  new  setup

 Size  :  30"  (l)  x  12"  (d)  x  18"  (h)
 Capacity  :  106  L  /  28  gallons
 Lighting  :  2  x  36W  Philips  PL
 CO2  :   DIY  CO2
 Filter  :  Submerged  filter
Substrate  :  Laterite  +  River  Sand
 Fertilizers  :  None

 Pic-

most  of  the  plants  are  from  my  old  setup  and  the  big  leaved  ones,  found  them  real  cheap.

waiting  for  the  grass  to  arrive.  i  think  i  will  get  it  by  this  friday  or  next  friday.

also  searching  for  a  good  but  cheap  driftwood.  where  can  i  find  them  in  mumbai?

 any  suggestions?

 thanks  :)

 UPDATE  :  Edited  tank  specs

 UPDATE  :

hey  guys.  started  DIY  CO2  yesterday.
1  cup  sugar  +  1  teaspoon  dry  yeast

kept  it  whole  night  and  kept  the  light  on  for  12  hrs  and  noticed  a  line  of  extremely  minute  bubbles  coming  out  from  one  of  the  plants..

yay!  the  plants  are  breathing  :D

tried  getting  some  pics  of  the  bubbles,  but  they  are  extremely  small.  the  macro  mode  on  my  camera  could  not  get  them

very  happy  to  see  the  bubbles  :D

next  step  i  am  gonna  put  one  more  36W  PL  in  there.

will  it  give  similar  results?  also,  should  i  try  glossostigma?

switch  off  the  lights  in  the  afternoon  for  2  hours  this  will  reduce  algae.   For  new  tank  8  to  9  hrs  of  lightning  is  ok  and  i  dont  no  the  white  thing  instead  of  using  air  stone  you  can  use  small  submerged  filter  and  use  co2  when  lights  are  on

 UPDATE-

 tank  totally  ruined.

the  tank  showed  healthy  growth  with  the  star  grass,  cabomba  sticks,  amazon  until  last  week

but  recently,  90%  of  the  star  grass  melted  in  2  nights,  cabomba  sticks  are  turning  black/brown.  but  their  growth  is  fast.

amazon  had  the  best  growth,  but  recently,  there  are  brown  dots  appear  on  the  leaves  and  they  get  bigger  and  turn  into  holes  in  the  leaves.

added  dwarf  grass  which  was  covered  in  algae  after  2  days  of  planting.  the  growth  is  fast  and  its  spreading,  but  its  colour  has  changed  from  bright  green  to  yellow.  also,  there  is  no  algae  growth  elsewhere  in  the  tank.

all  the  plants  respire  very  well.

the  water  in  the  tank  turns  yellowish/greenish  1  day  after  the  water  change.  i  do  50%  water  change  every  sunday.

what  is  so  horribly  wrong  with  the  tank?

till  last  wednesday,  the  tank  had  healthy  plants,  clear  water  everything  like  my  dream  tank.  thursday,  the  plants  started  becoming  brown,  friday  water  started  turning  wellow,  saturday  50%  plants  were  ruined,  sunday  water  was  green  and  all  the  things  mentioned  above  happened.

did  a  75%  water  change  yesterday.  the  water  was  clear  as  before.  saw  the  tank  today  morning,  it  was  milky.  afternoon  it  started  becoming  yellowish.

 in  short,  tank  totally  ruined.

very  sad  about  the  BIG  failure.

still  the  question  remains,  what  and  why  it  all  happened  so  fast?

i  got  it  from  a  local  plant  walla.  and  i  don't  think  its  pure  laterite.  its  some  red  soil  +  laterite.

even  i  am  looking  for  lighting  for  my  tank  co  can't  comment  on  that.  this  tank  failed  badly  Sad
