You could also check the Dolphin internal filter which is also very cheep This should suffice your requirement.
However the logic is that use a filter which can clean 3 times the values of the water in it
FOR EXAMPLE if you have a 100 liter tank you should use a filter that can push out/clean out 100*3=300 liter water
dolphin does about 650 liters per hour which is good for my 70 liter tank. |

It's considered the best for planted tank...........for ehiem you could also look for the biorio filters from them if available
they are external canister filter good for planted tank.
I have a 2217 which is running for the last 3 years with no issue.
In b'lore 2215 is around 5-6 K without the media
You might wanna check in mumbai..........it should be less expensive there |

Posting after a long gap.
IMO the need filtration need of planted tanks are as follows:
1> A filter which can rotate 3 to 4 times your tank volume per hour. So if you have 100 l of water you need a filter of capacity say 400 l/h
2> The water shouldnot come in contact with air directly to reduce loss of CO2
3> The outflow shouldnot cause too much disturbance, again to avoid loss of CO2
As a cannister filter of suitable make normally meets all these requirements so we normally go for them. Eheim is suggested because of it's reliability but then there are other choices too. However I think you would not get any cannisters within your specified budget.
So the choice is to design your own filter. You would need a pump to lift water, a glass or acrylic box of suitable capacity and pipeline. You would get lots of ideas if you google for DIY filters.
Alternatively you can go for a commercial "top filter". I am not sure of the capacity but costwise you should get one. I use them in my tanks where I grow out plants and they have given decent results. Only catch is to get one with right capacity and it should be placed in such a fashion that it doesnot block light.
Hope you find my suggestion useful. |
