Sharing  some  snaps  of  this  Spoonhead  Premium  Red  dragon  arrived.  This  5"+  little  predator  is  very  active,  showing  such  prominent  spoony  feature  at  this  juvenile  stage  already.  Again  this  was  grabbed  from  Admond  of  KAIJU  Arowana  (from  whom  I  got  my  HBRTG  last  year)  who  turned  down  many  customers  &  reserved  it  specially  for  me  on  friendly  request.  Such  Spoonheads,  Short-Bodied,  Kings  are  very  very  popular  there  in  Singapore  &  get  sold  like  hotcakes.

PS:  Please  don't  ask  why  it  is  not  showing  Red  color  at  this  stage  like  displayed  on  its  certificate.  Chuckle

 Hi  there  dear  Yogesh,

Thanks  for  the  support  and  I  am  very  glad  the  fish  reaches  you  safe!

Just  an  advise:-  perhaps  you  could  darken  the  tank  by  having  the  sides  sticked  with  black  backgrounds  and  use  a  pink/white  lighting  for  the  fish,  the  color  will  come  back  and  surface  faster.

Arowanas  are  like  chameleons  when  they  are  young,  if  the  environment  is  too  bright,  their  color  tends  to  whiten.  Darken  it,  you  will  see  the  difference  esp  for  Reds.

Hopefully  so!!  Premium/Super/VIP  Reds  are  always  expected  to  color  up  better  than  Chilly  Reds.

 Welcome  to  IAH,  Admond.
This  is  just  temporary  tank  for  one  week,  will  be  shifting  this  cute  little  one  to  4'  tank  which  already  has  black  background  &  pink  light.  Once  the  guy  gets  little  bigger,  will  be  getting  Red  Tanning  tubes  to  undergo  tanning  regime  for  him.

Here  are  some  pictures  Admond  forwarded  to  me  just  before  its  departure  from  his  shop.  Posting  here  for  people  curious  about  microchip  scanning.

Check   this  video  for  arowanas  in  their  real  habitat.

They  are  called  the  water  monkey  by  the  locals  as  it  can  leap  to  2  feet  above  water  surface  for  food.  Amazing....

 Excellent  fish
Can  you  let  us  know  how  Aro  was  imported?
Is  there  any  procedure  in  importing  fishes  from  Singapore?

 Hi  Yogesh,

 Absolutely  beautiful  aro!!!

For  those  of  you  trying  to  figure  out  how  to  import  "livestock"  into  the  country:

 1.  Livestock  Import  Procedure  (link  to  IAH  article)

 2.  Importing  the  Endangered  Asian  Arowanas  to  a  different  country

As  you  can  see,  you  need  a  "CITES  permit"  to  legally  import  these  fish  into  the  country.  (The  "Certificate  of  Quality"  does  not  constitute  a  "CITES  permit")

 Yogesh,

This  might  be  a  great  time  to  chronicle  the  process  of  getting  a  CITES  permit  and  getting  these  fish  imported  to  India.  (How  the  heck  do  these  fish  survive  the  "quarantine"  period  at  the  Customs?)

 Thank  you,
 Sid

B+  mate.  Smile  Never  thought  on  pessimistic  lines,  but  will  check  with  our  Customs-Boss  just  for  you.  Last  weekend,  we  were  having  much-delayed  weekend  garage  party  Drinking  &  several  topics  were  discussed  including  Discus  competition,  IAH,  Percy  etc.  (Madan,  you  were  missed  Smile  ).

Anyways,  here  are  some  updated  snaps  of  the  chap.  Feel  sorry  for  his  protuding  anus  (maybe  he  was  fed  sharp  krill  etc.  overseas  earlier).  But  the  guy  is  very  very  active  &  not  a  fussy  eater  like  my  earlier  HBRTG.  Has  grown  about  an  inch  within  this  time  with  his  good  eating  habit,  current  size  should  be  around  6".

Missed  to  update  chap  hails  from  Wan  Hu  Farm,  Singapore.

As  the  certificate  mentions  the  filial  linage  and  that  it  is  captive  bred,  it  inherently  complies  to  CITES  protocols  of  not  being  collected  from  the  wild.
