Thanks, Madhu. I have edited my earlier post. yes, they are the Fry's of wild caught A.panchax. But I think F1, F2 and might be F3 mixed together since it is exactly one year since we caught them.
Bhushan, Thanks:)
Seetharamere, long time. Show us your awesome aquascapes, ye:)
Guys, This is a dynamic thread. I have already edited my posts and will continue to do so as and when I get more information's or better pics. The Idea is to have as less pages as possible with maximum information of fishes in a single post and my first post acting as an index. but, this will mean you will have to go back and forth through the pages, since information is added in old posts as well as new ones.
Tomorrow, I will post of "Hayath's Pristolepis marginata".
What, do not tell me you did not know that a couple of fishes were named after him!
Regards,
Nayak. |

Pristolepis marginata
Will be edited..........
Distribution- I have seen them in Nethravathi and Kumaradhara, South Canara, Karnataka. Never found them north of South Canara.
Sexual Dimorphism- No Idea.
Mating season- No Idea.
Hardiness- Tough guys. Can withstand a lot of mishandling;(
Feed- Dried brine shrimp flakes, Kumta Shrimp feed and edible anything that tried to breed in my Balcony tanks. One guy polished off all the A.blockii in a tub!
Personal observation- Very beautiful fishes. Aggressive but shy. Internecine aggression is very high. Very Cichlid like in behavior, belonging to a family called Nandidae. We have seen them in bayou parts of fast flowing streams and river, especially hidden in leaf litters. I have four of them, two belonging to Hayath. Hence the name "Hayath's Pristolepis marginata"
Look at those spines. Also stressed because of the moving to fishroom.
The biggest caught by us in the wild. Of course we let it go!
Regards,
Nayak. |

Congrats Nayak All the best and may your collection grow.
Seems a very well planned fish room. how as been the reaction to things from the family?
Now since we have a place with all goodies, its time to plan on a heist. Will be on a recon trip shortly |
