 Hi  ALL,

I  am  Sushilkumar.  I  am   34  years  of  age  recently  staying  at  Boisar  near  Mumbai.  By  profession  I  am  an  engineer  with  the  Nuclear  Power  Corporation.  Theoretically  I  have  done  3  years  in  this  hobby  but  practically  I  have  started  my  tank  since  2  months.

Presently  I  am  having  a  36"  X  18"  X  15"  tank  with  Boyu  internal  filter.  DIY  CO2  for  my  collection  of  plants.  A  DIY  hood  with  15W  x  4  CFL  lamps,  2  moonlights  and  cooling  fans.  I  have  started  with  angels,  guppies  and  platties.  I  want  to  create  an  underwater  garden.  I  am  the  only  one  looking  towards  this  in  my  area   and  this  is  the  reason  I  joined  IAH.  It  is  very  difficult  to  source  the  plants  from  over  here.  LFS  are  not  of  much  help.

I  hope  someday  I  will  be  able  to  post  the  dream  photos  of  my  garden  with  help  from  you  all.

 Regards/  Sushil

 Hi  All,

I  am  Mahesh  from  Mumbai  and  working  for  a  software  company.  I  was  passionate  about  keeping  pets  since  childhood  but  due  to  certain  constraints  could  start  recently  with  my  first  aquarium  (without  much  prior  knowledge),  which  has  a  capacity  of  around  30  gallons.

I  started  with  fish  in  the  following  sequence  (as  advised  by  my  pet  store  owner):

 1)  2  Silver  Dollars,  2  Angel  Fish  (Scalare),  4  Red  Cap  Oranda,  2  Goldfish  (out  of  which  Redcap  died  very  soon)
 2)  4  Silver  Dollars  (since  came  to  know  they  like  to  be  in  school  of  atleast  5-6),  2  Taxedo  Angel  Fish  (1  died  later)

Later  1  Goldfish  also  died  which  I  suppose  either  Dollars  nipped  the  tail/fins  or  certain  disease  as  her  it  was  rotting  and  became  white  at  the  root.  I  tried  to  cure  it  by  mixing  some  medicinal  capsule  (don't  remember  name  :-(  )  but  couldn't  save  it.

So  left  with  6  Silver  Dollars,  3  Angel  Fish  and  1  Goldfish.

 3)  I  added  2  Shubunkin  (a  bit  larger  than  other  fish),  but  1  morning  they  chased  my  only  Goldfish  so  badly  and  ripped  off  its  skin  that  I  had  to  get  rid  of  them  (goldfish  survived  and  is  fine  now)  and  replaced  them  with  4  more  goldfish  which  all  got  killed  by  either  Angel  or  some  other  fish  as  their  tails  were  eaten.

 4)  Later  I  added  2  small  Red-tailed  Sharks,  1  Sucker  Catfish  to  the  aquarium.

 5)  Lately  added  4  Mollies  (2  white  and  2  orange).  One  of  the  Mollies  gave  birth  to  2  fry  whom  I  separated  in  a  bowl,  with  oxygenated  water.  I  kept  feeding  them  powdered  dried  worms  and  palletes  but  couldn't  save  them  more  than  two  days.

So  now  I  am  left  with  6  Silver  Dollars,  3  Angel,  1  Red-tailed  Shark  (1  died),  3  Mollies  (1  died  somehow),  1  Sucker  and,  1  Goldfish.  I  am  happy  with  the  way  silver  dollars,  angel  and  my  oldest  goldfish  have  grown,  however  I  am  very  upset  I  couldn't  save  the  other  fish  despite  regular  water  change  and  adding  anti-chloramine  etc.  after  that.

So  thats  it  till  now!!  This  was  all  about  my  fish  and  my  first  aquarium.  I  was  searching  for  a  good  forum  so  that  I  could  get  more  familiar  with  my  fish  and  their  problems  to  make  them  healthy  and  I  think  your  forum  has  everything  I  need.  Currently  I  am  looking  for  live  water  plants/moss  since  I  want  to  provide  my  fish  the  natural  environment.

Thanks  for  your  wonderful  efforts  to  keep  novice  like  us  informed  about  this  wonderful  hobby.

 Regards,  Mahesh

Hey  folks.  Anoop  from  Bangalore  here.  Have  been  a  silent  visitor  since  some  time,  decided  to  join  up  recently.  Have  been  keeping  fish  from  my  childhood  in  Kerala;  had  plenty  of  space  and  a  big  pond  inside  the  house-  bred  angels,  gold  fish,  sword  tails  and  fighters.  Used  to  keep  easy  to  maintain  fish  here  at  Bangalore  too.  Recently  started  off  some  bigger  planted  tanks  with  Discus  and  Cardinals,  hence  the  frequent  visits  to  this  forum  (can't  fool  around  with  discus  in  the  tank!  more  info,  less  the  anguish!Smile
Nice  to  see  a  group  of  knowledgeable  people  discussing  fish!  Good  job,  moderators.

 Hello,
I  have  been  in  this  hobby  since  childhood.  Just  moved  back  to  India  (Dwarka  -  Delhi).  Got  a  48  inch,  70  Gal  tank  last  week.  This  is  going  to  be  a  planted  tank.  At  present  cycling  it  with  two  black  mollies.  Managed  to  get  my  hands  on  some  Vallasenaria,  Cobamba,  Amazons  and  Crypts.

Would  love  to  meet  up  with  other  aquarists  in  Delhi  to  share  info.

 Regards,
 Jacob
