This  is  not  farlowella  acus,  the  regal  whiptail  or  twig  catfish  Nayak  had.  F.acus  has  a  more  slimmer  profile  with  thin  extended  snout.

It  looks  like  some  rineloricaria  sp.  even  these  are  called  as  whiptail  cats.

 Hi  Unni,

I  agree  with  Beta, that  is  a  Sturesoma  sp.  Most  probably  S.aureum  that  I  had.

Hamza,  I  never  had  twig  catfish  Sad

The  males  will  grow  false  whiskers  known  as  Odontodes.  That  is  the  way  to  sex  them.

 Regards,
 Nayak.

 I  think  it's  Rineloricaria  parva.

Check  the  species  profile  at  AHC

Your  site  seems  to  be  full  of  gross  inaccuracies!
 http://aquariumhomecare.com/modules/kshop/product_details.php?id=101091

Origin:  South  America  and  max  size  6  inches!

and  the  pic  is  from  here  http://www.aralam.org/html/fishes.htm

You  need  to  cleanup  the  site  before  providing  the  information  to  the  public.

 Thanks  Nayak  and  Beta

I  went  through  the  profile  pictures  of  most  of  the  Whiptails  in  planetcatfish.  It  sure  looks  like  Sturisoma  aureum.

 Thanks  Jib  and  Hamza

 @  Ashish  and  Deepak
Thanks  for  the  suggestions.  But  as  I  said,  so  far  it  looks  very  similar  to  the  S  aureum  pictures  on  most  sites.

 @  Beta
You  are  always  welcome  to  correct  factual  errors.  Thank  you

 Anyway  I  will  post  more  pictures  as  they  grow  older  {provided   they  manage  to  survive  in  my  Gas  chambers}
