Hello,
Do the different feeding styles affect on food consumed by Fish in Aquarium?
usually we feed them the amount that can be consumed in few(2-3) mins. But if we stay at aquarium and drop 1-2 pellets at a time and wait for the fish to finish,i noticed they are taking more food in those 2-3 minutes. ( Is it become overfeeding situation then?)
Which is better system to practice? |

definitely you will enjoy feeding your fish that way.... but food is wasted in doing so.
When u drop pellet one by one Fish gulps it immediately and runs for the other and the third. As it does not eat that completely and chase for the next pellet , it throws out some uneaten broken pieces of food that it holds in its mouth. many times this food(thrown/spit away) remains unnoticed and fish wont eat that.
If you have lots of time to spare... you can wait for every pellet to be finished by your fish and then again drop the next one..good luck |

In my opinion ,if you drop 1-2 pellets at a time, the stronger/larger fish will overstuff themselves, as they they will be the first to reach.
The smaller fish will hardly get any food.
When you feed normally, every fish gets a equal chance to feed. |

@ Niranjan
Yes they are wasting some food in that way
@ Sandeep
Got your point. Currently the problem is i have brought TetraBits Complete and was feeding to my angels but all the pellets are not floating. many of them are sinking immediately and fish are not eating them as they lay down somewhere in the gravel at bottom. ( eating only floating pellets ) |

Angels do pick up food from the bottom, however if your substrate consists of very large pieces, the food might go under them.
I have always fed tetra bits to my angles and they would pick it up form bottom, but I had soft sand in the tank.
This is the tank I am talking about

Most LFS guys out here, (out of ignorance) refer to corydoras as 'catfish'. |

Ali is right, as belonged to Catfish family they are known by family name with most LFS.
When you google 'Corydoras', you may just realize that you have seen this fish with your mostly visited LFS. Albinos are most commonly spotted.
Anyways, you can go for any other bottom-dwellers like botias. |

lot of fish food , means lot of fish poo, and clean the aquarium day and night, otherwise rise in phosphate level and plants go poof, feed the fish ,foods that are rich in fibre and protein, if u have them in planted aquarium they tend to eat the algae and new buds, so feed the fish food that they consume with in 2 mins, they are always greedy pigs they eat till they are blown upnicely, if u overfeed your fish some times they constipate and die or your aquarium gets algae ridden |

Hi Sanjiv
Plecos are generally called Suckers under LFS lingo.
Check this for commonly available corys with LFS: Corydora |

Yogesh,
So is it a good idea to introduce a pleco / sucker to finish the uneaten food laying on the bottom of aquarium ?
The CORYDORA link i checked and LFS here do not bring these. They just bring SUCKER. and i doubt they know Sucker = pleco
Lfs SUCKS |
