 S.  paradoxus,  a  type  of  ghost  pipe.  Always  wanted  to  have.  Never  saw  one  in  flesh  either.  Most  of  them  are  real  fun  to  keep.

Good  fish,  these  are  expensive  in  the  US,  Liveaquaria.com  had  them  listed  in  their  tang  section  for  $129  each.

or  they  did  earlier  today.  mSupply  and  demand.

I  just  wish  I  could  have  a  tank  large  enough  for  several  blonde  naso  tangs  and  a  vlamingii.   \then  I'd  be  happy  (but  probably  homeless!)

Hi  Gremlin,     Good  call,  the  MI!!!!

My  all  time  favourite  most  Iconic  marine  fish.

When  I  retire  and  I  get  'that  tank'  I  will  be  sure  to  try  to  maintian  one  of  these.   Have  you  checked  out  the  RC  threads  on  these?   Amazing.

Will  be  in  touch  soon.   Hope  the  tank  is  going  well?

@  MAtt:  The  tank  is  doing  good,  I  have  been  little  busy  lately  to  do  wc  and  its  showing  signs  that  it  needs  one  pretty  soon.  I  have  collected  few  corals  that  I  need  to  place  in  the  tank.  I  got  a  Archohelia  Rediviva  after  waiting  for  almost  a  year,  but  its  worth  the  wait.

@Sid;  MI  have  small  mouth  and  have  to  be  fed  small  portions  often.  They  eat  sponges  in  the  wild  and  that  diet  cannot  be  supplies  in  the  aquarium.  If  I  come  across  one  in  any  LFS  I  might  try  it,  BUt  I  am  not  an  instinctive  buyes  of  fish  (corals  is  another  story).  It  took  me  3  years  to  try  a  CBB,  that  too  I  got  it  from  a  fellow  hobbyist  and  not  from  the  LFS.

I  have  seen  MIs  in  Kolathur  quite  frequently.  Pretty  fish  but  doomed  to  die  in  most  cases,  unfortunately.  I  think  this  thread  is  going  to  give  people  here  lots  of  ill  conceived  ideas.

 Why  is  that?
From  what  I  have  seen  in  this  thread  is  many  aquarist  are  giving  reasons  why  they  cannot  keep  a  fish  they  want  so  much.  I  think  a  novice  should  take  note  of  the  fact  that  many  experienced  aquarist  refrain  from  buying  livestock  which  they  cannot  properly  care  for.

MI,  CBB  and  mandarin  are  not  expensive  or  rare  but  these  are  hard  to  keep  because  we  cannot  provide  them  proper  envoirment.  People  want  MI  because  they  saw  it  in  Finding  Nemo.  They  all  want  a  dori,  nemo  and  MI(dont  know  his  name)  in  a  29g  and  many  irresponsible  LFS  sell  them  too.

I  think  that  is  the  whole  point.  LFSs  in  India  are  not  paticularly  responsible  or  ethical  and  neither  are  the  people  who  buy  the  stuff.  I  think  the  main  proble  is  the  legality  issues  regarding  the  hobby.  Untill  the  laws  change  marine  aquarium  keeping  will  be  a  very  primitive  hobby  in  India.  It's  fine  to  discuss  what  one  would  like  to  keep  but  all  I  am  saying  is  that  you  will  still  find   people  buying  these  fish  that  have  been  mentioned  just  because  someone  in  some  thread  mentioned  it.  I  am  not  criticising  anyone  but  just  stating  the  way  things  are  here.

 Hi  Asak.

I  don't  think  it  will  come  to  that.

But  when  you  can't  even  get  a  damsel  in  Delhi,  there  is  little  danger  of  these  fish  becoming  available,  and  if  they  did,  somehow  turn  up,  only  serious  hobbyists  would  take  them  on;  the  price  tag  would  put  people  off.   Ultimately,  it  is  just  a  bit  of  fun,  nothing  wrong  with  thinking  about  what  if....

Gives  us  something  to  do  in  this  heat.

I  dont  think  its  ill  conceived,  if  the  hobbyist  here  take  things  positively  and  i  guess  that  is  one  of  the  reasons  they  would  have  joined  IAH,  that  is  to  learn  the  rightway  of  fish  keeping,  this  thread  will  tell  them  the  pro  /  cons  of  buying  a  fish  and  probably  they  will  make  a  wise  decision  before  they  buy  it.

 YEah  well  taken

Wish  this  thread  was  there  and  read  before  I  chose  MI  as  my  second  fish.  It  was  there  for  just  a  week
before  my  Haddini  gobbled  it.  LFS  non-instruction  cost  me  dear.
When  I  read  threads  like  these,  I  wonder  why  experts  like  gremlin  are  concerned  to  own  fishes  like  MI  and  CBB.
Wouldn't  dare  to  buy  one  now..  atleast  I  have  that  level  of  knowledge  and  confidence.

Well  I  would  love  of  own  an  achilles  tang.  Just  a  dream  as  my  tank  is  not  big  enough  to  accomodate  one  right  now.
