Guys!  Yesterday  I  saw  some  fantastic  artificial  corals  which  have  been  imported.  I  have  a  few  pieces  in  my  talk  already  so  could  not  buy  them.  If  anyone  is  interested  they  are  at  Aakar  Aquarium  in  Kurla.  Trust  me  guys  with  these  corals  in  your  tank  the  tank  would  look  really  fantabulous.  If  possible  do  check  them  out.

 Regards

I  guess  they  are  from  Rs  500  to  Rs5000.  The  number  of  corals  would  vary  depending  on  what  size  corals  you  would  choose  and  how  many  rocks  etc  u  will  be  having.  Do  check  them  out.  I  guess  2  BIG  pieces  would  lok  really  good.  You  check  them  our  urself  and  you  will  have  a  idea  then.

 Regards

There  is  a  concern  though,  if  they  are  not  branded  !

If  U  buy  &  keep  artificial  coloured  corals  in  your  tank  for  long,  the  color  fades  over  a  period  of  time,  spoiling  the  chemistry  of  your  marine  water.

Some  branded  ones,  Like  Azoo,  which  I  have  tried,  are  real  good,  &  last  long.

Yes  Sir  I  agree  to  this  and  had  to  throw  away  all  the  cheap  resin  corals  that  I  bought  for  my  fish  only  tank  as  the  colour  flakes  in  the  water  and  the  flakes  are  a  very  irritating  sight  -  moreover  I  would  suggest  Azoo  corals  or  some  other  branded  corals  as  most  of  the  corals  are  made  of  self  coloured  plastic  or  resin  and  the  question  of  flaking  does  not  arise  -  moreover  you  can  easily  scrub  and  clean  it  to  make  it  look  like  new.  Whereas  the  painted  ones  will  have  to  be  cleaned  with  at  most  care  to  save  the  painted  surface!

Most  of  the  corals  (artificial)  that  you  find  at  Aakars  are  imported  from  Bangkok.  Apurva  has  been  having  them  in  his  tank  for  some  time  and  I  think  all  the  sutff  used  to  make  then  are  inert  (do  not  react  with  water).  So  going  from  the  performance  I  think  they  are  safe.

I  never  tried  azoo  corals  cause  they  are  very  costly  compared  to  the  size.  I  have  had  these  corals  for  really  long  say  more  than  8months.  Non  of  them  have  faded,  yes  they  do  collect  diatoms  or  algae  on  it  and  look  faded.  If  they  are  diaoms  i  just  spray  water  on  it  using  the  powerhead  in  the  tank  and  if  algae  u  just  remove  it  and  brush  them  off  say  once  in  2months.  Nerusan  i  dont  know  which  coral  your  reffering  to  but  all  the  corals  are  good  quality  wise,  as  far  as  the  show  is  concern  thats  your  choice  and  the  decor  of  your  tank.  Some  days  back  a  friend  of  mine  picked  4  corals  for  10500/-  from  aakar  from  the  same  lot.  You  will  find  the  same  corals  from  the  same  source  at  Aquaria  (Mrs  Meeta  Rao)  Bandra  but  with  a  higher  price  tag.  Thats  cause  there  is  a  diff  when  u  buy  it  from  the  wholeseller  and  the  retailer.  Meeta  charges  for  the  location  too!

P.S.  Since  anyone  of  u  are  going  to  Aakar  do  check  the  arowans  in  there.  I  know  u  must  have  seen  many  arowans  but  how  many  have  u  seen  with  a  pricetag  of  Rs50000  each?

I  would  not  be  able  to  help  with  addresses  in  Bangkok  but  this  just  to  let  you  know  that  you  cannot  carry  any  live  fish  out  of  Bangkok  since  Thailand  does  not  allow  that.  The  rest  if  it  is  aritificial  you  can  carry  the  same.

As  far  as  my  knowledge  goes  you  are  not  allowed  to  carry  live  marine  fish  from  Bangkok.  If  u  are  carring  corals/accessaries  for  personal  use  ie  1-2  nos  then  i  dont  think  you  require  a  permit  as  long  as  you  fit  in  the  luggage  weight!
