Typically  it  takes  about  6  weeks  to  cycle,  SOmetimes  more  or  less.  BUt  you  need  to  have  a  good  test  kit  to  measure  you  Ammonia,  nitrite  and  NItrate.  If  you  have  used  live  rock  (not  dry)  then  your  cycle  should  start  automatically  or  you  can  place  a  piece  of  uncooked  shrimp  in  your  tank  to  start  the  cycle.  Don't  take  the  advice  of  the  LFS  and  put  a  Damsel  to  start  the  cycle,  its  inhumane.

I  hope  you  read  a  lot  lot  before  starting  the  marine  tank,  because  in  this  hobby  everything  takes  time.  Lot  of  hobbyist  say  "only  bad  things  happen  quick."  Since  you  already  have  a  tank  you  know  about  nitrogen  cycle.  Also  the  cannisted  fliter  is  useless  for  marine  tanks.

In  Marine  tanks  the  mechanical  filtration  is  done  by  the  skimmer  and  bid  filteration  is  done  by  the  organisms  that  live  in  the  LR.  You  don't  need  chemical  filteration  unless  you  want  to  run  carbon,  gfo  etc.   Cannister  filter  will  trap  detrus  and  cause  increase  in  nitrates.

 Hi,

Geet  you  need  a  higher  flow  rate  in  your  tank,  2  get  rid  of  the  dophin  canister  is  has  a  metalic  shaft  and  is  not  suited  for  a  marine  tank.  For  a  tank  that  size  you  will  need  atleast  4  wavemakers  of  about  5000Ltrs  per  hour  if  you  have  the  cheaper  ones  and  if  you  have  the  15000Ltrs  per  hour  ones  then  you  need  atleast  2  of  these  on  opposite  direction.

Also  not  sure  what  top  filter  you  have  and  i  am  asuming  its  chinese  again.  That  one  should  not  be  there  cause  the  powerhead  of  the  same  will  also  be  metal  and  will  corode  in  the  tank.

If  you  have  space  below  this  tank  then  get  a  sump  made  and  get  your  tank  drilled.  This  will  go  a  long  way  for  you  in  the  future  to  have  a  stable  and  versitality  in  your  filteration.

Also  I  would  say  invest  in  some  test  kits,  like  NH3/NH4,  No2,  No3,  pH.  These  will  help  you  keep  your  water  in  check.

Also  could  you  give  us  bit  more  detail  or  possibly  a  picture.  Also  what  brand  of  salt  you  are  using  and  sailinity  levels  you  have  kept.

For  now  let  the  tank  run  for  6-8  weeks  post  which  you  would  want  to  do  a  ammonia,  nitrite  and  nitrate  test.  When  your  Ammonia,  Nitrite  is  Zero  and  you  have  Nitrates.  Do  atleast  a  50%  water  change  wait  another  2  days  and  then  add  your  live  stock.

Begin  with  simple  fishes  and  easy  to  keep  ones  like  the  Clowns  and  damsels.  Dont  be  an  impulsive  buyer  by  the  looks  of  the  fish  cause  a  lot  of  indian  fish  are  difficult  to  keep  in  an  aquarium  especially  the  butterfly  ,  angel  and  wrasse  varieties.  Also  a  new  legislation  is  being  passed  where  certain  of  these  species  may  get  banned,  So  its  best  right  now  to  wait  and  watch  so  that  you  do  not  obtain  any  banned  fish  in  your  tank.  Lastly  NEVER  NEVER  buy  a  Doctor  Wrasse.  Its  very  commonly  available  in  Delhi  and  is  best  kept  in  the  SEA.

Lastly  dont  believe  any  of  the  LFS  boys  blindly  make  sure  you  come  and  read  whatever  they  have  advised  you  on  the  internet.  If  you  find  a  similar  advice  on  multiple  sources  across  google  the  advice  may  be  good  else  just  drop  it  and  post  here.

If  you  need  any  help  feel  free  to  ask.  I  am  based  out  of  delhi  as  well  and  have  kept  marine  tanks  for  years  now.

Lastly  you  should  join  us  at  AQUATIA  2010,  we  have  some  of  the  best  members  in  the  marine  hobby  presenting  on  how  to  keep  marine  tanks  and  other  aspects.  We  have  Nauzer  who  is  the  guru  of  IAH  marine  tanks  and  we  have  Matt  who  is  from  UK  and  has  kept  marine  species  for  over  27years.

 Warm  Regards

thanks  a  lot  for  the  kind  advice  you  all  have  given  me  .  and  i  tested  the  amoonia  and  nitrates  it  is  zero  and  salinity  is  1.21.  but  the  water  is  still  alittle  bit  cloudy  .  i  just  bought  an  new  wave  maker  and  set  it  up  in  the  other  direction.and  nash  sir  i  would  suelybe  coming  to  aquatika  if  i  find  the  time

 thanks  agian

 hi,

its  too  early,  after  a  period  of  3  weeks,  5th  week,  6th  week  and  8th  week  is  in  when  you  should  test.  Thats  what  i  typically  follow,  offcourse  everyone  has  their  own  ways.

Well  dont  find  the  time,  create  it.  Since  registrations  would  just  about  be  closing  anytime  soon.
