 Hi  ,
I've  heard  some  of  our  Bangalore  planted  aquarists  are  getting  ripped  off  by  their  Co2  filling  stations.  Below  are  the  visting  cards  of  two  refillers  who  are  reliable  and  very  reasonable  with  their  rates.

 Trevor,

Just  for  info  -  how  much  do  they  charge  for  a  refill.
Here  in  Coimbatore  it  is  something  like  15  per  kg.

BTW  Do  you  use  lab  grade  Co2  or  Commercial  grade  Co2.  I  was  told  that  there  is  a  difference  in  terms  of  purity.  and  the  comm.  grade  costs  a  little  less.

 Hi  Kiran,
We  use  the  commercial  grade  Co2.  Its  the  Co2  normally  used  for  gas  cutting  and  fire  extinguishers.  The  cost  for  us  Aquarists  usually  varies  from  Rs.12/  to  Rs.18/  Max.  per  Kg.
I  guess  the  pricing  depends  on  the  amount  of  business(size/number  of  the  Cylinders  and  frequency  of  refills).  Bulk  industrial  users  get  it  door  delivered  for  Rs.11/  or  less.

I  paid  200  bucks  to  refill  a  11  litre  cylinder.   If  you  are  refilling  it  frequently,  it  is  about  Rs.120.

I  am  surprised  that  i  am  refilling  it  pretty  frequently.I  thought  that  the  cylinder  would  last  me  2  months  or  so  between  every  refill  but  only  20-25  days  ago  did  i  refill  it  that  now  i  hav  run  outta  gas  again.I  am  not  sure  about  the  weight, its  a  1.5  feet  long  cylinder.I  guess  it  must  be  around  3-5  kgs?

I  dont  think  there  is  any  leakage....Atleast  i  dont  get  the  sweet  smell  when  i  go  near  the  kit.

Harshal, thats  the  same  guy  in  Tannery  road.May  be  i  will  enquire  as  to  how  much  is  he  gonna  charge  to  come  over  and  do  the  work  but  its  gonna  work  out  pretty  high  if  i  have  to  refill  every  20-25  days  like  this.I  paid  him  90  bucks  the  last  time  for  the  refill  when  i  went  to  his  workshop.

 Hi  vinay

My  7kg  cylinder  normally  lasts  me  about  6-7  months  easily,  sometimes  more,  for  a  75  gal  tank.  And  yes  these  guys  do  charge  a  lot  for  transportation.  But  for  me  its  works  out   since  i  get  it  done  only  twice  a  year.

Sounds  like  you  have  a  leak  in  your  system,  do  confirm  that.

Patel  from  Tannery  road  charges  Suuresh  Rs.120/-  for  a  7  kg  cylinder  pick  up  and  door  delivery.  Maybe  the  rates  depend  on  how  sweet  you  smile.  Nothing  is  fixed  but  it  could  also  depend  on  where  in  the  city  you  stay.  As  for  me  I  pay  Rs.  50/-  for  my  3  kg  refill  at  Bannergatta  Road  but  I  take  and  pick  up  my  own  refilled  cylinder.  Lasts  me  three  months.
