|
|
Hello Every one,
Its been a long dream to build a betta barracks (drip system) and I have been planning about it for quit some time now.
Now the time has come and my wife is out of station and I could have all the freedom to mess up the whole house in processes of building this system but have to finish it before Saturday night before my wife back home .
Here are the details of my project.
Rough Diagram of the project
The image above was the initial plane but I have made few changes.
The system contains of slotted angle metal rack, the rack contains of six levels each one little less the 4 feet in length and is 1 feet in width.
Slotted angle metal rack
The system is going to house 40 bettas in 40 separate tanks. The tanks are 5 inch in length, 5 inch in width, and 7 in height. Each tank is capable of holding approximately 2 litters of water.
Rough Diagram of the tank
All tanks will be made with 4mm glass, there will be a small gap (3mm) at the back of every tank for the water to over flow as you can see in the above diagram.
the over flown water will be collected in a collection tray in every level and then be drained to the sump from where the the water will be filtered and pumped back to the tanks through 3/4 inch PVC pipe.
There will be four levels of filtration in the sump and there will also be a heater in the sump to maintain optimum temperature in all the tanks during winter (cos thats when most of my bettas die cos of chillness ). water from the sump will go through a UV sterilizer before going to the tanks.
The rack is already done and the plumbing work has already started last night. will keep you guys updated as the work goes on.
Will be great if you guys can post your comments and suggestions.
Regards,
Ram. |

Would have been great to have some have assistance but what to do you are so far away.
am not sure what that drippers are called, I picked them up from a LFS at Rs.2 each (got 100 of them) so that I can use it for my next project.
and about the Pump I will need a pump which would approximately pump 2000 to 2500 liters an hour and it also has to pump up 6 ft high, I will be going out to the market in the afternoon to find out which one is good, Probably Eheim compact + 3000 should do the job.

Sure Abhi any time...
BTW there has been a slight change in the plane. First I thought of having 40 tanks on the first five levels and sump on the 6th level but then I thought the sump would be too heavy and huge in size and wouldn't fin in the 6th level, so now there is a change in plane, instead of that 40 tanks am gona have 48 tanks the additional 8 tanks will be on the 6th level and the sump is gona be on the floor.
Regards,
Ram. |
