Looking good man...
their are a few things you can do thou..
starting off with painting the inside of your hood white
trust me it makes a hell of a lot of difference + u get the added waterproffing...
do this even if you are adding reflectors
I've asked you about the chiller issue
since you are not gonna use it where r the exosts in the hood
the humidity will cause problem in the hood...
theen are the things about your light source of the refugium
since you have painted it black i assume you will be using a refelector their as well... |

The canopy is a work in progress still. I figured, id have some time to work on it, while my rock cures and the cycle gets well established. So im yet to drill holes for the exhaust, the return pipe among other things. I shall probably paint it white, and also make a DIY foil reflector. Hopefully this should take care of things.
Refugium also has a T5 fixture above it, need to make a reflector for that one too. Just waiting for the tank to get ready, not finding any time to work on other projects at the moment.
Im not sure what rimless means.. Im guessing you meant if there are going to be bracings on the rim of the tank.. hmm. im not sure of that yet, deepak (aquadeep) who is the one making the tank for me has kept some strips of glass the length of my tank in my place. Not sure how he would be using it... Will post once done..
as for the chiller, i had once drowned my PC into 'Mineral oil'... Kept things quite cool.. (The comp which usually ran at 49 degrees, was chugging along at 24 degrees).. Still have the liquid, maybe il use it as a coolant to keep things cool during summer.. but that is a long term project tho... |

| @mayur - Yes i am making an internal overflow. But the water flows thru the bulkhead at the back of the tank and not from the bottom. |

| Hmm.. Costs, plus i am quite skeptical about the glass cracking.. If its at the bottom, then there is no way to see any signs until you find water leaking... If its on the wall, i thot u could atleast see something happening... |

| The return will be over the rim of the tank. Ill have to drill a hole on the canopy and let the water flow over the top of the tank. |

HI,
If you are already drilling for the overflow, then why not drill also for the return. It gives a nice compact look. Both your overflows are at same level. U could have done a Herbie design and cut off all the overflow noise by having the two as different heights. Even now you can drill another hole lower down and still have the herbie noiseless overflow.
Take it from me that the overflows do make a lot of noise and the hot bathtub effect in the sump. |
