 Hi  Shishir:

Scale  Loss  in  GF  can  happen  due  to  change  in  pH  OR  change  in  water  temperature...
It  can  also  be  due  to  high  stress  if  they're  invovled  in  constant  chase...

Use  only  Tap  OR  Ground  water  constantly  during  WCs...don't  mix...

Using  Stress  Coat  during  WCs  will  help...
 Bye,

 Hi  shishirkamat

 Do  something  fast  !!
My  Goldfish  ran  into  the  same  situation  before  they  finally  died.
Like  Nag  pointed,  in  my  case  the  golds  were  in  bad  community  -  constantly  harassed  (I  was  a  newbie  then  you  see  -  all  I  did  was  watch)

 Regards

 Suby

 Tank  size?
 Are  there  any  other  fishes?
 Size  of  goldfish?
70%  w/c  might  be  stressing  them,  If  this  is  not  very  heavily  stocked  25%  would  be  enough

 Hi  Nag,
Does  the  Ph  change  frequently  in  an  established  tank?I  agree  with  you  regarding  change  of  Temp, possibly  it  could  be  the  reason.Do  i  need  a  Heater?I  have  read  that  Goldfishes  do  well  without  Heaters  is  that  right?.
Is  there  anything  else  that  could  have  caused  this  problems  like  Parasites
 With  Regards
 Shishir  Kamat

Goldies  do  not  need  heater  as  they  prefer  cool  temp.  I  never  had  this  type  of  problem  keeping  Golds  over  the  years,  btw  is  tank  Goldfish  only?  Smile

 Hi  Shishir
Goldfishes  do  well  in  tempreatures  around  22C.  Kindlly  note  that  stablity  in  temprature  is  more  important  then  temp  itself.
Rapid  changes  in  water  quality  stress  fish.
If  ammonia  level  is  high  ammonia  burns  can  occur.
It  is  very  difficult  to  find  exact  cause  without  more  details  of  the  tank.
When  fishes  recover  form  ammonia  poisioning  they  shed  scales.

 Hi  Shishir...

All  this  while  they've  been  fine  and  they'll  do  fine...Don't  worry...
 No  heater  required...

Did  you  clean  the  filters  recently  with  tap  water  /  fresh  water  /  new  water...??

If  yes,  then  there's  every  chance  that  you  might've  lost  the  beneficial  bacteria...giving  rise  to  new  tank  syndrome  condition...where  ammonia  levels  have  shot  up...

Well,  I  can't  think  of  any  other  reason...
 Bye,

Never  used  heater  for  Goldfishes,  never  found  them  stressed  in  winter  also.

GF  is  a  cold-water  fish  and  is  even  recommended  for  out  door  ponds  during  winter  months  so  relax  they  don't  need  a  heater  in  your  tank.
How  many  fish  do  you  have  in  the  tank?
