[Cross  posting  here  as  IPS  does  not  want  competitor  Online  Store  mentioned  on  their  sponsored  forum]

Please  compare  the  price  for  Boyu  SP-1300B  at  the  following  links

 1.  http://www.shopatsimba.com/product_info.php?cPath=339_336&products_id=2942
 2.  http://indiapetstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_5_29&products_id=598

The  exact  same  product  is  available  at  a  competitor's  website  for  2/3rd  the  price  at  IPS!!

The  above  product  is  just  an  example.  Almost  all  products  are  cheaper  at  the  other  website  than  IPS.  (This  is  when  comparing  the  exact  same  product  with  the  same  Brand  and  Model  number.)

Please  don't  take  this  as  a  complaint  but  as  a  suggestion  to  discover  opportunities  to  make  your  supply-chain  more  efficient  and  adjust  your  price-points  as  per  your  competitors.

 Good  luck,
 Sid

PS:  For  people  from  Bombay,  the  prices  are  the  cheapest  (for  exactly  same  branded  products)  at  Kurla  wholesale  market  as  compared  to  almost  all  online  stores.  So  if  you  have  a  relatively  long  shopping  list  (so  the  savings  per  item  add  up  to  a  LOT),  you  may  be  better  off  driving  to  Kurla  than  buying  online.  (Obviously,  be  prepared  to  haggle  and  do  research  the  approximate  price  on  these  online  stores.)

I  have  bought  several  products  from  ShopAtSimba  which  is  based  out  of  Chennai  and  their  service  has  been  absolutely  fantastic!

For  Branded  products  (from  Boyu,  Hikari,  etc  etc.)  I  don't  think  there  is  any  reason  for  not  choosing  ShopAtSimba.com  if  the  price  there  is  cheaper  than  other  stores.

 More  later.

 Hello  Sid

I  totally  Agree  with  you.  ShopAtSimba  is  an  absolutely  good  vendor.

I  recently  brought  a  boyu  ef-05  filter  from  them.  I  was  updated  by  an  e-mail  the  instant  the  product  was  billed-->registered-->sent  and  then  received  by  me.
Including  the  shipment  number  was  sent  with  the  e-mail.  I  could  clearly  track  where  my  product  is  using  the  tracking  number.

I  also  received  a  laptop  cooler  pad  as  a  compliment  for  being  a  first  time  buyer  from  them....Smile.

The  best  part  is  that  they  called  me  back  after  a  week  or  so  to  confirm  if  the  product  was  received  in  good  condition  along  and  if  it  is  working  fine....:)

An  absolute  pleasure  to  have  dealt  with  ShopAtSimba..........:)

This  is  my  personal  experience  with  ShopAtSimba.

 Hi  Sid,

I  am  not  sure  if  you  have  read  any  of  their  clauses  before  you  make  the  prices  comparison.
Just  an  inctercept  from  one  of  their  clauses.

"12.  Simba  Shopping  Pvt  Ltd  represents  itself  only  as  booking  agent  to  facilitate  transactions  between  the  buyers  and  sellers  through  online  web  store  for  various  wholesale  dealers,  suppliers,  vendors,  trading  organisations,  manufacturers  and  other  organizations.  Simba  Shopping  Pvt  Ltd  shall  in  no  way  be  responsible  for  any  quality  of  product,  damages,  losses,  expenses  and/or  taxes  incurred  by  Customers  via  the  products  purchased  on  our  online  store.  In  no  event  shall  Simba  Shopping  Pvt  Ltd,  its  directors,  officials,  representatives  and  employees  be  liable  for  any  damages  relating  to  products  sold  through  its  various  platforms.  "

So  if  your  product  is  not  received  by  you  or  damaged  after  they  have  dispatched  they  will  not  be  responsible,  which  means  no  insurance  in  place.  Plus  their  return  policy  if  you  return  a  product  to  them  and  you  pay  by  credit  card,  they  will  hold  back  3%  of  the  amount.  No  payment  gateway  holds  fees  back  incase  a  refund  is  processed.

Also  have  you  checked  the  prices  on  Tetra  bits  there,  2/3rd  difference  between  us  and  them.

 http://www.shopatsimba.com/product_info.php?products_id=4159
 http://indiapetstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_3&products_id=57

I  dont  want  to  start  a  price  war  of  sorts  and  reduce  some  of  the  benefits  we  provide  to  our  customers.  I  believe  every  business  has  their  own  share  of  cusotmers  and  not  everything  is  run  by  price.

So  prices  difference  will  be  there,  Every  individual  is  smart  enough  to  make  a  good  and  reasonable  judgement.

Thanks  for  the  offer  on  your  bro's  firm  ITMonarch.com  for  the  SEO  and  price  analysis.  Will  see  if  we  can  hire  them.

 Warm  Regards
 Nirav  Shah

 Hi  Nirav,

Prices  wars  are  a  good  thing  for  any  capitalist  system  Smile..  Ensures  that  any  inefficiencies  in  the  supply  chain  and  production  process  are  eliminated!

Thanks  for  highlighting  the  difference  in  price  for  Tetrabits.  If  I  choose  to  buy  that  product  online  (rather  than  any  of  the  cheaper  options  at  Bombay's  stores),  I  will  choose  IPS  over  ShopAtSimba.

As  for  the  "insurance"  part,  I  guess  it  boils  down  to  the  preferences  of  the  buyer  and  the  actual  value  of  the  products.

For  instance:  a  Boyu  filter  which  is  going  to  cost  Rs.  325  bucks  at  Site  1  and  Rs.500  (with  insurance)  at  Site  2,  whether  or  not  it's  worth  paying  Rs.  175  (or  over  50%  of  the  price  of  the  product)  for  "Insurance"  is  going  a  decision  left  on  personal  preference.

I  wonder  if  it  will  be  a  good  idea  to  have  an  "Opt  out"  option  on  IndiaPetStore  for  this  Insurance  scheme.

 Thanks  for  your  response,

 @IAH  Admins:

Please  note:  I  have  edited  the  post  on  the  sponsored  forum  and  I  am  not  going  to  continue  this  discussion  as  I  am  sure  sponsored  forums  are  a  very  valuable  source  of  resources  for  IAH.

 Cheers,
 Sid

IPS  also  provides  a  pretty  large  range  of  options  to  choose  from  (im  talking  about  only  filters),  compared  to  shopatsimba.  Shopatsimba  only  has  Boyu,  a  brand  I  usually  stay  away  from.  And  if  im  still  buying  a  boyu,  it  is  widely  available  at  LFSs  all  over  for  cheaper.  Yes,  if  I  want  to  buy  a  Boyu  online,  I  will  buy  from  Shopatsimba.com.

Insurance  becomes  pretty  important  when  shopping  for  the  slightly  more  expensive  &  delicate  stuff  like  metal  Halide  Bulbs.  Is  there  any  other  site  which  provides  insurance?

Btw,  regarding  tetrabits,  the  cheaper  options  from  Kurla/crawford  et  al  are  really  scary.  Im  paranoid  of  duplicates,  and  I  need  a  large  tetrabit  can  every  45  days.  The  market  is  flooded  with  duplicates.  There  was  one  shop  that  seemed  to  have  an  original  can.  The  moment  i  blurted  out  '  this  looks  like  an  original,  all  other  shops  seemed  to  have  duplicates',  he  hiked  the  price  by  100  bucks  outright,  refusing  to  reduce  it  again.  Crazy!

 Hi  Alistair,

 Try  Fish-O-Fish  Aquarium  at  Kurla-West.

 Contact:  Mr.  Kishore

 Address:

594,  Mirza  Irani  Bldg.  Pipe  Road,  Kurla  (W).  Mumbai  -  400070.

 Tel:  2652  3200.  Cell:  98201  26983

Get  in  touch  with  any  other  IAH  member  (who  has  more  experience  than  me)  to  confirm  the  quality  and  authenticity  of  goods  there.  This  place  is  the  source  for  all  the  fish  food  and  "hardware"  requirements  for  my  tanks.

If  you  have  a  good  relationship  with  the  guys  at  Aakar,  they  will  also  quote  a  decent  price.  Obviously,  you  will  have  to  haggle.

 Cheers,
 Sid

PS:  I  plan  to  find  some  time  to  write  up  a  detailed  post  for  Kurla  Market  with  recommendations.  Any  input  from  Yogesh,  you  and  other  IAH  members  from  Bombay  will  be  very  helpful.

Thanks  for  that  contact  sid.  Ill  visit  that  place  the  next  time  im  there.  A  detailed  post  for  the  Kurla  market  would  really  be  helpful  for  the  Mumbai  guys,  considering  the  huge  number  of  shops  out  there.  Ill  try  to  chip  in  whatever  little  I  can.

 Hi  sid,

Thats  indeed  a  good  idea.  Since  you  are  familiar  with  the  place,  may  be  you  can  categorize  the  shop  which  are  good  for  equipments,  plants,  saltwater,  odd  balls  etc.
