Question  :  Is  it  necessary  to  have  a  heater  in  a  planted  aquarium?

 Thanks  a  lot  guys...  SmileSmile

zoomrenault  -  Yes  heater  is  necessary  in  a  planted  tank.  Like  fishes  plants  also  require  optimum  temperature  to  survive  and  flourish.  Each  plants  temp  requirement  is  also  different.  Like  CO2  and  light  are  essential  for  the  process  of  photosynthesis  optimum  temperature  also  plays  an  important  role  in  the  process.

gandhi  -  the  bushy  foreground  plant  is  Micranthemum  Micranthemoides  (also  known  as  Pearl  weed),  it  can  be  used  as  both  a  foreground  and  a  midground  plant.  If  u  have  a  tall  aquarium  say  24"  or  so  u  can  use  it  as  a  foreground  plant.  But  remember  to  trim  it  regularly  or  it  will  soon  take  over  your  entire  aquarium.

Thanks  a  lot  guys  ......  SmileSmile,  I  really  appreciate  all  your  comments...  :)

abhis9  -  Sir  I  totally  agree  with  you  about  the  variety  of  fishes  to  be  kept  in  a  tank,  I  am  planning  to  eventually  keep  just  25  Rummy  nose  Tetras,  25  Cardinals  and  a  few  SAE's  (will  move  the  other  fishes  to  another  tank  that  i  am  planning  to  set  up  36"*12"*15").  The  problem  is  that  here  in  NCR  these  fishes  are  not  available,  have  been  looking  for  them  since  a  long  time  and  even  if  some  times  they  are  then  the  LFS's  here  charge  an  exorbitant  price  for  them.  Got  all  my  current  tetras  from  Pune  some  15  days  back.  I  still  am  looking  for  the  Rummy  noses  and  cardinals,  if  anyone  has  a  source  here  in  NCR  please  let  me  know.
