oh....that  is  strange  incident...i  have  got  many  fishes  from  adip,  my  discus,  lelupis,  fronts,  brichardi's,  rbp's  all  came  from  him....

Back  to  the  point....like  i  said  earlier  i  think  you  should  buy  frontosa's  with  uniform  bars  that  you  can  see  with  no  splits,  if  they  are  solid  bars  go  for  it  because  if  they  have  it  now  they  will  have  it  as  adults......

If  you  can  find  a  good  breeder  theres  nothing  like  it,  almost  all  of  the  fronts  in  the  LFS  are  low  grade  due  to  inbreeding...I  used  to  keep  Zaires  and  they  came  from  a  breeder  outside  of  India  Smile
 Cheers

 Appreciate  the  informative  post  Kulsdood!
Guys  just  curious,  how  much  would  it  cost  us  in  Mumbai  to  start  out  with  half  a  dozen  decent  quality  Burundis  of  size  2  inches  or  so?  Would  it  cross  the  4  digit  (xxxx)  barrier?  I  am  a  noob  on  Fronts,  so  bear  with  me  if  my  guess  is  way  off  mark  Smile

Burundis  are  not  at  all  that  expensive..  but  you  are  right  it  may  cross  the  4  digit  (barrier  -  if  you  want  to  call  it  that  way)   Very Happy

@  Devansh  --  there  is  nothing  like  "imported"  or  "locally  bred"  ---  what  decides  the  difference  is  the  type  of  frontosa  (either  frontosa  or  giberossa)  and  further  collection  point...  also  its  really  laughable  that  imported  fronts  will  develop  more  hump..  burundis  will  develop  the  biggest  even  those  with  poorest  quality  will  develop  as  good  a  hump  as  those  with  best  quality...  quality  in  fronts  is  decided  by  perfection  in  terms  of  colours,  shape,  bars  etc  etc...

one  more  thing  on  fronts  personality"  which  is  the  case  95%  (will  vary  based  on  fish  to  fish)

Frontosa  Burundi  --  Biggest  hump  --  Most  skittish

Giberosa  Mpimbwe  etc..  Nice  hump,  not  as  much  as  burundi  ---  Most  socialable  and  the  ones  I  had  can  beat  Oscars  for  being  friendly  --  not  at  all  skittish,  will  just  greet  up  to  you  --  very  nice  colours  --  some  good  quality  mpimbwe  can  rival  even  some  Zaires  ---  but  very  very  tough  to  get  THAT  high  quality  mpimbwe

Giberosa  Moba  etc...  Least  hump  --  best  colours/  almost  stunning  --  even  a  non-front  lover  will  stop  by  to  gaze  at  them  ---  not  very  skittish,  some  could  be,  but  most  are  not...  ofcourse  not  that  socialable  like  mpimbwes...  however  they  can  easily  be  your  friends  with  some  amount  of  association..  you  saw  one  of  my  videos  where  I  hand  feed  my  mobas,  I  dont  do  it  regularly  to  teach  them,  but  if  I  go  after  3  months  they  will  still  feed  out  of  my  hand...  :)

 http://www.youtube.com/madoverfish#p/u/0/Dg_q37zj9tE

Frontosa  Kigoma  --  the  only  one  which  has  7  stripes  ...  all  others  are  6  ...  there  are  very  very  rare  ones  with  8  stripes...  colours  are  similiar  to  burundi  and  even  personality..   but  folks  think  they  have  the  most  cute  faces...:)

you  can  get  tons  of  info  on  all  these  fish  on  cyphos.com  and  frontosa.com   Thumb Up

 hey  Sid,

If  you  want  to  buy  fronts  you  must  get  them  from  Vivek  I  have  got  10  Frontosa  Burundi   from  him  last  year  and  this  year  I  have  purchase  6  Cyphotilapia  Gibberosa  (Zaire  Blue)  KITUMBA  VARIETY  trust  me  they  are  growing  and  the  Quality  is  just  great  I  am  sure  that  there  is  no  one  in  India  who  can  match  the  quality  that  I  have.

not  forgetting  Vivek  is  a  real  Gem  of  a  person  to  talk  to  so  i  suggest  do  not  buy  Tangs  from  others  if  possible  buy  them  from  him  only.

you  can  see  the  snap  i  have  on  face  book  for  the  BURUNDI  my  face  book  id  is  clive_dias

There  is  no  doubt  that  Vivek  is  the  absolute  best  source  for  Tangs  in  the  country.  Rock On   That  was  the  1st  source  I  recommended  to  these  guys.

However,  Vivek  doesn't  have  any  2-3  inch  Burundis  (or  any  similarly  priced  species)  in  stock  (or  so  I  am  told).

The  video  above  is  from  Aqua  Planet  @  Kurla.

 Cheers,
 Sid

PS:  Can  you  please  post  a  link  to  the  pics  of  your  Fronts  (Burundi  and  the  Kitumba)  on  IAH  (preferably  some  3rd  party  site  which  does  not  need  a  account  to  view  pics)?   Your  Burundis  must  be  huge  by  now  Smile
