He  never  ate  live  food  here  too.  Would  ignore  a  cloud  of  FBS/Worms  and  dive  straight  for  Tetra  Bits  or  Hikari  Pellets.  Most  of  my  Mystus  behave  the  same  way.

My  2  year  old  red  tail  solely  survived  on  liver.Still  could  not  figure  out  the  reason  of  his  death. One  fine  day  my  parents  found  him  dead   Sad
Was  it  because  of  his  high  protien  diet?  Since  you  are  an  expert, you  could  probably  give  me  an  explanation     Smile

Am  no  expert  on  fish  feed.  But  AFAIK  certain  fish  find  it  difficult  to  digest  animal  protein.  But  am  not  sure  if  it  applies  for  catfish  cause  they  scavenge  too  and  animal  protein  does  find  its  way  into  their  system.

Sticking  to  a  single  type  of  food  does  affect  fish  cause  they  may  miss  other  nutrients.  Its  better  to  have  a  change  in  feed  atleast  once  a  week.

Other  experts  may  give  you  better  inputs  Smile

I  have  never  kept  an  RTC  nor  have  I  fed  any  animal  meat  to  my  fish.  So  I  really  wouldn  be  in  a  position  to  clarify  anything  here.I  would  personally  stay  away  from  animal  protein  though  I  have  heard  it  is  very  beneficial.  Just  a  whim.  Nothing  more.

My  cats  usually  get   Tetra  Bits,  JBL  Nova  Bits,Scampi  Feed,  Aquael  Spiru  Tabs,Hikari  Carnivore  and  Sinking  Pellets  (1  each  day)  in  the  morning  and  live  food  in  the  evening.

Yes.  Especially  when  they  end  up  like  this.

Thanks  Nayak.  I  have  been  very  tempted  to  keep  the  Puntius  sahyadrensis   but  dont  think  they  will  survive  long  with  the  Mystus  around.

 Nayak,
Never  trust  him  with  any  Puntius,  esp.  when  it  comes  attached  with  the  tag  "that's  gona  be  in  my  cousin's  place".
