 HI,

really  very  nice  Discus  and  well  kept.  The  Heckel  Discus  (Symphysodon  discus)  is  from  the  Rio  Marimari  and  the  Brown  and  Blue  Discus  (=  S.  haraldi)  from  the  Rio  Canumã  basin.

If  you  can,  I  would  keep  the  in  separate  tanks,  because  normally  the  Heckel  Discus  should  have  a  much  lower  pH  and  extreme  soft  water  vs.  the  Blue  and  Brown  come  from  habitats  of  pH  6.5  average  (often  near  to  7),  and  conductivity  of  60-150  µS/cm.

Alsdo  both  should  have  fine  (possibly  white)  sand  on  the  bottom  and  some  well  atered  driftwood.

Thanks  and  all  the  very  best,

 always

 Heiko  Bleher

Thank  you  all  for  your  nice  comments.

Abhida  -  You  are  most  welcome.
Madhu  -  Right,  Browns  started  coloring  up  well  compared  to  Greens.  Rock On

Heiko  -  Thanks  for  providing  details  about  their  origin  in  the  amazon.  Had  done  a  lot  of  reading  before  acquiring  them,  Bernd  Degen  book  helped  a  lot.  Heckels  were  conditioned  to  6pH  by  the  Frankfurt  hobbyist,  from  whom  I  picked  this  lot  last  month.  Browns  &  Greens  are  with  me  since  last  5  months.  All  of  them  are  settling  well  with  local  municipal  water  but  will  remain  in  bare-bottom  tank  until  they  are  fully  grown.  I  have  seen  quite  a  few  Biotope  tanks  on  the  internet  using  white  sand  &  driftwood  like  you  mentioned,  this  point  will  be  considered  in  future-planned   biotope  tank,  if  done.  Thank  you  for  your  wishes.

Good  looking  fish...  What  is  the  substrate  you  used  there.  Do  you  have  to  do  more  WC  than  a  BB  tank

 FTS  and  specs  please....
i  always  wonder  why  Discus  keepers  keep  them  in  barebottom  tanks  and  not  in  planted/biotope  tanks.
If  water  quality  is  the  issue  won't  good  filtration  as  well  as  the  plants  solve  it  ?
