Just  came  to  know  about  this  some  time  back  ..

The  Telegraph  -  Tsunami  hits  Japan  8.8  Earthquake

The  disruption  to  human  life  and  society  are  obvious.

Was  wondering  how  this  must  be  affecting  the  aquatic  life.

This  is  what  happens  when  nature  wants  her  revenge  for  all  the  destruction  we  do  to  her..
Hope  to  everything  settle  down  fast.

And  to  think  that  these  are  common  in  that  part  of  the  world  (  I  mean  quakes  and  tsunamis  ).  It  must  be  really  hard  for  people  there.  They  had  warnings  as  early  as  Tuesday  night.

Yes,  was  watching  all  the  devastation  and  horrible  waves  of  water  gushing  through  the  streets  in  Japan  a  few  minutes  back  on  TV.  This  is  terribly  unfortunate.

As  per  Yahoo/  Google  and  I  quote  here  "On  March  19th  2011,  the  moon  will  make  its  closest  approach  to  Earth  in  almost  20  years,  possibly  triggering  earthquakes,  volcanic  eruptions  and  other  disasters.
The  phenomenon,  called  lunar  perigee  or  Super  moon,  happens  when  the  moon  reaches  its  absolute  closest  point  to  Earth.  On  March  19,  the  natural  satellite  will  be  only  221,567  miles  away  from  our  planet.  "

May  be  this  tsunami  is  a  due  to  this  planetary  movement.

Yes  this  was  also  predicted  by  our  Indian  Astrologers  and  I  am  sure  they  will  be  soon  making  statements  like  "I  told  you  so  ..."  although  its  a  well  known  scientific  phenomenon.

Dude,  The  moon  cant  cause  a  earthquake  nor  a  volcanic  eruption...just  not  possible(Japan  Earthquake  is  a  coincidence)
Yeah  moon  can  cause  tsunamis  and  high-tides  due  to  lunar  gravity

Tokyo  people  are  very  calm.  I  called  my  Japanese  friend  at  3pm,  and  he  said  it's  far  from  his  house.  everything  is  alright.  Dont  worry.  There  is  no  tension  in  his  voice,  dont  know  how.  The  news  looked  like  some  hollywood  movies  to  me.  Bad  bad  nature.

As  of  now  137  confirmed  dead  and  531  missing  as  per  ndtv  update  and  it  says  the  strict  building  codes  that  Japan  had  developed  saved  thousands  of  lives..hope  everything  comes  to  an  end  quickly.

@Suyash  S  I  just  quoted  wht  i  read  in  Yahoo  and  whether  or  not  lunar  proximity  can  cause  earthquakes  like  destructions,  scientists  are  still  debating  on  that  matter  and  further  reading  suggests  that  it  may  be  a  mere  coincidence  as  there  were  supermoons  in  1955,  1974,  1992  and  2005,"  and  these  years  had  their  share  of  extreme  weather  and  other  natural  events.

Here  you  go  with  some  feed  for  the  thought  from  NGC..it's  quite  interesting  though.
