 Hi  everybody
On  24th  Feb  one  of  my  guppies  gave  birth  to  fries.
They  are  in  a  tank  having  green  water  and  Daphnia.
Sorry  because  due  to  my  exams  (12th  board)  i  cannot  post  any  pics  right  now.No Way
They  are  being  fed  tubifex  worms  and  crushed  pellets  and  30%  WC  weekly.
During  a  WC  i  counted  about  30  fry.  Rock On
Their  average  size  is  now  about  7-8mm  and  all  have  developed  black  streaks  on  their  tailfins  which  look  like  Endler  pattern.

I  need  your  comments  and  suggestions  regarding  feeding  and  WC.

One  more  thing  i  noticed  is  that  they  like  to  gang  up  and  eat  red  ants  which  may  sometimes  fall  in  the  tank.  Is  it  safe??

 Thank  you

 Hi,
I  opened  this  post  with  the  curiosity  to  see  how  people  are  frying  such  a  small  fish  ??
then  I  realized  what  is  the  issue!!

I  too   have  lots  of  guppy   babies  in  my  tank  and  I  do  not  take  any  extra  care,  I  do  water  changes  as  usual  but  care  being  taken  for  not  adding  chlorine  water  (which  even  other  wise  one  has  to  take  care).  I  feed  them  micro  pellets  after  they  are  old  enough  to  that  else  they  find  their  food  from  the  tank  itself.  My  tank  is  almost  2  years  old  and  having  plants  and  some  algae  too.  They  are  all  looks  to  be  happy  and  growing  well

 with  best  regards,
 Sudheer

You  are  doing  fine/.  some  adult  guppies  attacks  fries  so  keep  them  away.  water  change  30%  weekly  is  all  right  .U  can  use  stored  water   (  7  days  old  to  avoid  chemicals).
only  thing  is  Do  not  feed  them  to  much.  it  will  spoil  the  water.  use  a  sponge  filter  to  avoid  fungus.  Feeding  them  ant  or  ant  eggs  is  safe.  no  worries.  just  keep  lots  of  plants  for  fries  to  hide.
 Where  do  you  get  daphnia?
 Deepak.

Thanks  for  the  reply.  They  are  doing  well  now  and  some  of  them  have  started  to  show  colouration  also  Thumbs Up  .
Regarding  daphnia,  I  got  it  from  my  LFS  in  Chembur  about  1.5  yrs  back.  Recently  when  i  asked  him  he  said  he  had  stopped  keeping  them  as  there  was  no  demand.
 Regards

Green  water  is  water  which  has  algae  growing  in  it.  It  appears  green  in  colour  and  can  be  usually  found  in  lakes.
It  is  useful  for  very  small  fry  as  it  contains  very  minute  (unicellular)  algae  which  they  can  eat.

In  my  15  years  of  experience  in  guppies,  temperature  of  the  water  is  a  factor  determining  the  size  of  guppies,  especially  the  male  ones.
When  the  temperature  is  high  ,  early  sexual  maturity  happens,  and  the  result  will  be  small  sized  male  guppies.  And  the  temperature  of  the  tank  is  again  determined  by  its  size  and  depth.
Try  to  grow  the  green  water  in  another  container,  give  manure  (  groundnut  cake  )  and  to  it,  and  pour  this  enriched  green  water   to  the  fry  tank.

 all  the  bests!

How  does  depth  of  a  tank  determine  the  temperature?

They  have  now  grown  big  enough  to  accept  pellets  and  worms  Cheering
When  do  they  start  showing  colours?  Of  the  batch  of  30  all  have  black  patches/stripes  on  their  tails  but  some  2-3  also  have  other  colours  also.

Sorry!  This  happens  in  my  tanks  because  they  are  outdoor  and  powered  by  sunlight.

My  blue  moscows  gave  birth  to  two  fries  yesterday   Cheer
I  just  noticed  two  fries  when  i  returned  home.  There  have  been  no  fries  today.  I  wonder  if  guppies  gave  birth  only  to  two  babies  Shocked

I  have  kept  the  fries  in  a  separate  tank.
Can  anyone  comment  if  blue  moscows  give  birth  only  to  very  few  babies.
