@Nayak:  Thanks  for  the  link  and  taking  out  time  to  study  my  cam.

I  guess  my  cam  has  serious  limitations  as  far  as  manual  settings  concerned.
But  I  have  a  hunch  that  I  am  doing  something  wrong  and  clicking  good  snaps  will  be  possible  if  I  play  around  with  different  combination.

 I  have  a  question  though  ..
Should  the  macro  be  on  all  the  time?  Even  during  FTS?

Since  you  said  you  have  no  control  over  it  I  am  curious  to  know  where  did  you  get  the  f  number  Confused

Does  your  cam  show  it  or  used  some  software?

@Ranjit  -  What  I  meant  was  that  I  cannot  set  the  aperture  manually.  The  camera  does  not  have  aperture  priority  or  option  to  set  it  in  manual  mode.  So  the  camera  decides  both  shutter  speed  and  aperture  for  me.
The  information  I  have  posted  is  from  EXIF  data  of  the  picture.

Also  in  the  snaps  above  you  have  mentioned  focal  length.  Does  that  mean  that  you  have  switched  off  auto  focus  and  are  setting  the  focus  manually  for  each  shot?
Why  did  you  use  higher  ISO  for  the  2nd  and  3rd  snaps?  Is  it  anyway  related  to  flash  not  being  used?

In  Picasa  edit  software  or  the  Sony  software  for   DSC  H-5,  I  get  the  parameters  I  have  posted.  I  am  studying  the  judgement  of  the  Camera  regarding  the  parameters  like  Focal  length,  Exposure,  F  Number  and  ISO  so  that  I  can  use  it  when  I  use  other  modes  than  auto  Very Happy
