I tried to setup a simple 'easy-to-maintain' semi planted setup tank at my residence in Kolkata. This was in January 2011.
Tank dimensions: 30(L) X 14 (W) X 18 (H).
Substrate; Ordinary sand although they are far too dense than usual sands......I was really struggling to 'plant' in them
Light: 2X36 PLL
Filter: HOB (Jebo I think)
Dosing: Seachem Carbon plus ( 5 ml every week)
Decor: Driftwoods and rocks
Flora: Java Moss, Cryptocoryene Wenditii, Corkscrew Vallisneria, Stargrass,
Fauna: Neon tetras (20), Mollies red and black (4 each). The mollies were added after a month and the Neons during my last visit in March. Here are the pics: |

Only sand as subtrate!!!
Means plants are depending on your Seachem Carbon plus. |

Thanks Kunal and Partha,
The tank is kept simple cause I can't expect my dad to devote a lot of time to maintain it! I will call him tonight and find out the exact brands etc of carbon plus he is dosing.
Water change; weekly 25%. |

Very much goodlooking tank. I have trying to get this type of a tank, but not getting. May be the water here is a problem. I have also a HOB running, but water is getting cloudy, white. Did you get this kind of water while starting time?

You need to work on the rocks though. Think they can make a much more powerful statement. |

Thanks all,
I will only be able to do something about the scape during June (when I visit Kolkata next).Will carry some plants then too (the usual 1 kg rotalas I dispense off every fortnight  ) Meanwhile, hoping that things run fine.
