Bleheri  from  western  ghats?  not  likely.  The  spots  on  the  fins  has  me  all  confused,  this  is  definitely  not  a  Gachua.  I  have  caught  Gachua  from  too  many  locations  to  confuse  this  as  a  gachua.  so  i  can  rule  that  species  out.

Whats  the  size  of  this  fish?  if  its  more  than  three  inches  then  Nikhil  could  be  right,  looks  like  a  C.  striata.  If  its  less  than  three  inches  it  is  not  so,  cause  C.  striata  juv'  are  reddish.

This  is  not  C.  striata,  I  have  grown  a  batch  of  C.  striata  from  under  one  inch  to  more  than  6  inches,

This  one  is  about  2.5  inches.  The  ones  Sid_p  have  are  between  one  inch  and  two  inches,  exact  same  pattern  on  all  of  them.  Definitely  not  C.  striata.

If  you  look  at  the  pectoral  fins  on  this,  you  can  see  a  concentric  pattern,  I  don't  remember  seeing  this  on  C  Striata.  Further  the  Pelvic  fins  seem  to  be  too  tiny

 Edit:

Striata  of  similar  size  i  had  previously

If  pelvics  are  too  tiny  and  pectorals  with  rings  then  they  belong  to  the  C.  gachua  group.  Let  them  grow  a  bit,  juveniles  of  the  Channa  group  have  very  different  patterns  compared  to  adults.

Interesting  fish   Thumb Up  keep  then  safe.

Preeths,  the  pic  doesn't  do  any  justice  to  this  real  beauty.  For  sure,  that's  not  striata.  Being  collected  from  a  typical  hill  stream  habitat,  it  either  a  beautiful  colour  variant  of  gachua  or  something  new.

Hillstream  habitat  makes  it  sound  very  interesting.  Keep  them  safe  and  grow  them  and  take  pics  as  they  develop.  I  am  guessing  these  were  collected  in  Coorg?
