This  is  actually  used  more  as  a  bubble  counter.  Check  the  link  below,  its  a  video  of  the  diagram  that  you  have  described  above.

Been  almost  24hrs  now  and  all  i  could  see  is  a  bubble  at  the  end  of  the  piping  in  the  aquarium.  The  top  layer  of  the  water  is  foaming,  but  no  co2  being  pumped  into  the  aquarium.

I  use  around  2.5  cups  of  sugar  and  a  pinch  of  yeast.  My  solution  lasts  for  around  10  days.  The  more  you  use  sugar,  the  longer  your  solution  would  last.  The  opposite  goes  for  yeast  Use  as  less  as  you  can.

I  had  problems  with  my  co2  reactor,  and  after  trying  different  combinations,  one  did  good.
 Just  do  this......

 1.  Put  slightly  hotter  than  warm  water  in  a  2  ltr  bottle  and  fill  it  half  way.
 2.  Add  only  1/2  cup  sugar  and  mix  it  up  with  the  water.  No  need  for  the  sugar  to  dissolve,  just  mix  slightly.
 3.  In  a  cup  or  small  glass  put  warm  water  again  and  add  1/4  teaspoon  yeast.  Now  just  mix  slightly  this  solution  so  the  yeast  is  no  longer  stuck  on  the  sides  of  the  cup/glass.  Leave  this  for  10  mins  then,  then  add  it  all  together  to  the  bottle  which  already  contains  the  sugar  water.
 4.  Now  just  add  some  plain  warm  water  to  bring  the  water  level  to  3/4th  of  the  bottle.
 5.  Add  1/4  teaspoon  baking  soda.  (many  argue  that  this  is  not  necessary  but  its  upto  you)  Give  this  final  solution  a  thorough  shake,  so  the  contents  are  somewhat  mixed.
 6.  Depending  on  the  type  of  yeast,  your  reaction  should  begin  in  1  day.....tops.

Make  sure  the  bottle  cap  hole,  through  which  the  pipe  tubing  runs,  is  airtight.  Best  way  is  use  some  type  of  sealant  or  glue  or  even  epoxy  (silicone,  fevicol,  araldite)
2ltr  Soft  drink  pet  bottles  are  best  as  far  as  ive  tested,  they  remain  airtight  even  after  the  numerous  times  the  cap  is  opened  and  closed.
Make  sure  the  water  is  not  too  hot  or  yeast  will  die
More  Yeast  would  give  more  co2,  and  lasting  a  shorter  period  of  time.
More  Sugar  would  result  in  higher  generation  of  alcohol  which  would  end  up  killing  the  yeast  so  furthur  reaction  would  stop.
With  the  1/2  cup  sugar  and  1/4  tsp  yeast  combination  your  co2  generation  would  not  be  very  high,  but  a  decent  enough.  However  this  would  provide  a  stable  supply  of  co2  for  a  longer  time.
I've  also  heard  that  the  type  water  also  affects  the  reaction.

It  should  give  you  2  weeks  time  minimum.  Other  factors  are  water  type,  climate.
When  you  see  co2  generation  going  less  just  give  the  bottle  a  slight  shake  (hold  the  nozzle/cap  with  one  hand  while  the  bottle  is  on  the  floor  and  shake  it  3-4  times)

make  your  setup  identical  to  the  one  shown  in  the  diagram  provided  by  hems  (in  above  post)
but  keep  the  smaller  bottle  empty.  This  way  no  yeast  will  go  in  the  tank.  Use  a  check  valve  also  on  the  piping  so  that  water  is  not  siphoned  out  from  the  aquarium  into  the  bottle.
