 Hi,
 I  had  started  off  with  a  small  tank  setup  (1ft  x  1ft  x  8  inch)  last  month.
Kept  it  on  new  +  other  tank  water.
Idea  :  a  really  low-tech  but  sustainable  planted  tank  (all  my  previous  attempts  were  failures  even  after  trying  common  soil  and  liquid  plant  ferts).

So  settled  on  anubias  and  some  small  tetras.

Here  are  few  pics  since  I  started  off.

I  would  like  to  thank  the  guidance  and  help  given  by  Hamza  bhai  (toomanyfish)  throughout  this  setup   Rock On

Filter  was  running  for  a  week  before  I  added  Serpae  Tetras  4  days  ago.
Also  added  another  bunch  of  Anubias.

Finally  finished  it  off  with  tank  cover  and  lighting  yesterday.

 Please  share  your  comments.

PS:  The  scratches  on  glass  are  due  to  my  cleaning  of  the  waterline  since  last  couple  of  years.  This  is  one  of  my  earliest  tanks!

 Interesting  setup....

just  a  passing  thought  -  maybe  lighter  colored  (  grayish/whitish)  stones  would  bring  about  the  color  of  the  fishes
Also,  IMO,  having  smaller  variably  sized  pebbles  would  give  it  nice  rocky-stream-bank  kind  of  look!

This  one  of  the  very  few  tanks  with  hardscape  as  large  round  pebbles  which  looks  neat,  simple  and  appealing.

You  should  try  to  add  needle  leaf  fern  in  the  vertical  driftwood,  which  will  make  the  tank  look  even  better.

All  in  all,  a  very  neat  setup!  Thumb Up

 Regards,
 Surya

 Thanks  everyone  for  the  comments.

Recently  facing  some  problem  of  temperature  rising  due  to  the  light.

Will  using  the  fountain  setup  that  comes  with  the  filter,  lower  the  temperature  by  certain  degree?
Is  putting  fan  the  only  option?

Surface  agitation  will  certainly  help  heat  exchange  at  the  surface.  A  powerful  air  pump  with  air  stone  will  also  do  good.

What  kind  of  filter  you  have  in  your  setup?

Another  idea  would  be  to  increase  the  height  between  the  light  and  water  surface.  Can't  see  the  kind  of  light  fixture  /  hood  you  have  used  from  the  snaps  above.

The  tank  looks  very  neat  btw   Thumb Up

Looking  clear  and  really  nice...I  also  thought  of  a  nano  by  seeing  yours

 Some  comments:

 1)  Your  substrate  color  and  rock  color  is  almost  same,  not  getting  the  proper  contrast.  On  the  bare  substrate  I  don’t  think  you  will  go  for  any  grass  as  it  is  low  tech  tank.  So  future  also  will  not  be  able  to  bring  the  contrast.
 2)  For  me  stones  are  spread  almost  80%  of  the  base,  could  try  for  60%  and  can  get  some  more  height  to  the  small  pile.
 3)  Not  clear  but  your  driftwood  has  few  branches,  could  try  to  make  them  much  more  visible.
 4)  You  could  try  for  anabias  with  smaller  sized  leaf

These  are  my  personal  thoughts…  Not  that  much  experience  in  scaping  ,just  visualizing.

@Ranjit  -  Thanks  for  the  comments.  You  can  see  the  hood  in  snap  DSC_0767.jpg  (white  with  red  border  ...  no  idea  why  they  put  the  red  tape!!  )  I  have  fixed  a  bulb  holder  with  CFL  light  (11  watt).  Think  I  over  estimated  the  wattage  here.
Filter  -  I  have  a  small  power  filter  with  waterfall  attachment.  No  pump  or  aereation  arrangement  as  the  surface  agitation  is  quite  good.

@parthapratim22  -  well,  it  is  not  one  driftwood.  I  have  one  big  one  where  4  nana  anubias  are  attached.  One  medium  piece  with  one  plant,  that  u  can  see  on  the  left  vertical  alignment.  Rest  all  are  twigs  that  I  have  placed  around  the  rocks.

Since  you  are  not  injecting  any  CO2  you  might  be  able  to  make  it  work  with  a  little  less  light.  Will  help  the  temperature  problem  also.  Waterfall  attachment  will  also  do  its  bit.
