 hiiiii  i  am  raghu,
 
 Recently  i  went  to  my  town  in  tamil  nadu  called  chengalpat
 so  they  were  many  ponds  with  fishes  in  the  nearby  villages  ............  so  soon  arranged  some  bags  ,  and  large  cloths  since  no  nets  ,  
 
 i  myself  am  in  12  class  ...  i  knew  some  9  or  10  class  fellows  who  just  for  fun  joined  me  and  helped  ...
 
 so  they  are  in  my  tank  my  tank  has  dwarf  rainbows  ,  1  ram  ,  2  pink  danios  ,  1  albino  paradise   ,  6  mountain  minnows  ,  some  red  eye  tetra  
 
 so  please  help  me  ID  the  other  fishes  
 
 i  have  caught  2  catfish  hope  they  are  in  the  pics  
 
 i  mainly  wanted  to  know  the  name  of  the  fish  which  looks  like  danisonii  (shape)  and  having  a  black  line  over  its  body  but  its  tail  tips  dont  have  black  dots  like  that  of  danisonii

 1.  Rasbora  daniconius
 2.  Esomus  sp
 3.  Mystus  sp
 4.  Puntius  sophore  (need  clear  pic  to  confirm)
 5.  Badis  badis
 6.  Puntius  conchonius  (need  clear  pics  again)
 7.  Pseudosphromenus  cupanus
 8.  Puntius  ticto
 
 All  these  have  been  identified  from  poor  quality  photos.......identities  can  change  when  clear  photos  are  shown.....   Chuckle  
 
 Your  'danisonii'  like  fish  could  be  R.  daniconius  or  the  Esomus.  Match  the  numbers  to  the  names  Smile

 is  their  any  rare  catch  or  any  special  fish  that  are  above  
 
 and  by  the  way  i  caught  up  some  channa  .....  ,  some  gar  variety  ,Puntius  filamentosus,  and  many  fishes  with  no  knowledge  of  name  ...........  
 
 i  am  starter  of  indian  natives  so  will  learn  some  basic  scientific  names  soon  
 
 well  just  asking  do  LFS  sell  native  fishes  ??  is  so  will  the  cost  be  high  or  low  ??  
 have  ssen  lfs  selling  badis  as  BUDDIES  ........  so  do  people   catch  fishes  from  ponds  and  lakes  and  sell  them  and  do  business  ???

 Nothing  special  I  would  say.  That  Badis  a  few  years  back  would  have  raised  a  few  brows,  but  now  its  become  quite  common  in  Chennai  and  its  environs.

 You  planning  to  start  one??   Chuckle  lemme  tell  you,  there  is  not  much  market  for  native  fish.

 raghu  that  channa  may  be  channa  striata  ,gar  may  be  xenentodon  cancila  IMO  badis  in  pazhaveli  is  surprise  catch  next  time  i  ll  search  for  it  .

 Raghu,
 
 Good  to  know  that  you  are  interested  in  natives.  You  must  have  had  an  awsome  time  catching  these.  In  my  opinion,  quite  a  few  of  these  are  rare  in  the  hobby  (They  might  be  little  common  in  our  water  bodies  though).  You  usually  wont  find  these  in  shops.  
 
 The  more  you  venture  out  to  catch  these,  you  might  see  some  fishes  you  have  already  caught.  So  you  can  release  them  back  and  bring  back  the  fishes  that  interest  you.  For  me  that  would  be  fun  and  a  big  learning  experience,  hope  its  the  same  for  you.

 hey  i  forgot  to  tell  their  were  tones  on  orange  chromaid  each  sweep  i  collected  a  20  of  them  i  realease  all  except  2  of  them  which  i  currently  have  and  they  are  still  in  good  condition  
 
 and  i  collected  A  .  blockii  only  1  of  them
