the  length  i  mentioned  is  from  mouth  to  tail  end.width  at  hump  is  12cm  approx.colour  looks  like  between  red  and  pink.  i  took  the  photo  when  i  feed  it.i  am  spending  time  with  him  /her  at  that  time  only.  the  tank  dimensions  is  as  follows  24*12*12  inch  means  not  20gallons  it  is  14gallons.  when  i  check  with  shop  person  this  size  is  ok.  how  the  fish  looks  is  it  good?  Confused   i  feel  it  is  an  average  one.  what  filter  i  can   use?
at  present  it  is  heavy  work  to  clean  the  tank  it  is  under  gravel  filter.FH  always  dig  that  and  it  cause  water  to  be  dirty  within  one  week, even  it  moved  the  50gm  pebble.  i  am  in  rented  house,  i  can  use  the  tank  size  upto  2.75*1.5*2  inch  is  it  enough?  i  can  spend  upto  3000  now.  what  other  things  i  need  to  purchase?

with  the  facilities  you've  provided  he  is  ok..not  good  but  ok!
get  a  tank  of  length  of  36  inch  width  18inch  and  height  18  inch  at  least.
if  2.75  means  2  feet  9  inches..1.5  means  18  inches  and  2  means  24  inches  then  that  would  also  be  good.
and  about  the  digging....of  course  he'll  dig...he  is  FH...
now  you  need  to  remove  all  pebbles..pebbles  is  not  a  good  option  with  FH  [better  keep  it  bare  bottom  because  it  will  be  good  for  Fh  and  you  both].
 now  you  need  to  do...
 1]  get  a  bigger  tank.
 2]  get  a  siphon  pump.
 3]  and  a  sponge  filter/  a  power  filter.
just  keep  siphon  the  west  every  day[it'll  not  take  more  than  5  min  to  do]  and  fill  the  amount  of  water.
 he  won't  have  any  problem....

can  the  head  will  develop  hereafter  if  i  provide  the  setup  you  mentioned?

and  is  the  heater  require  to  maintain  temparature?

Even  i  have  not  provided  any  basic  setup  it  has  grown  very  well,  i  feel  it  is  goot  kind  of  freed  (may  be  wrong)  can  the  sufficient  setup  will  bring  back  the  wealth  it  missed  (size,  colour  and  hump)

not  a  question!  of  course  it  will!  Agree   and  about  growing  yahh....every  live  thing  grows  if  it  gets  regular  feeding....so  don't  be  like  he  is  grown  in  that  tiny  little  tank  so  he  is  very  special  one  and  can  handle  any  kind  of  critical  situations....  Guns

 HI

If  you  really  love  you  flowerhorn  then  get  him  a  much  needed  bigger  tank....there  no  way  he  can  live  a  happy  life  in  that  small  tank

It  is  a  good  quality  fish  but  since  you  are  not  giving  him  what  he  deseres,  he  is  depressed  and  is  shedding  his  lovely  colours

Come  on  man,  can  you  spend  you  all  life  in  a  6ft  X  6ft  room?

Now  do  you  understand  what  Swapnil  is  trying  to  convey  to  you?

 Hi  Srisabin,
First  of  all  your  Fh  is  a  cross  breed  b/w  a  zhenzhou  and  a  kamfa  with  a  very  good  yellow  base.  Kamfa  genes  are  dominating(flowerline  till  mid-body,  torpedo  head  and  levelled  lips).  Kamfa's  develop  especially  when  they  mature.  So  you  don't  have  to  think  much  his  head  will  pop  up  and  there  is  still  time  for  him  to  attain  his  premium  beauty.  Please  do  shift  him  to  a  minimum  of  50g  tank(bigger  will  be  better  though)  ASAP  and  make  it  bare-bottom.  Please  avoid  undergravel  filters,  they  are  much  old  and  unhealthy  concept.  It  is  due  to  the  kamfa  genes  only  in  him  that  he  has  still  developed  in  that  circumstances,  what  ever  he  is  now.

thanks  guys,  the  fish  came  as  gift.so  nothing  care  abt  it.  now  realy  wants  to  make  it  better.  i  am  not  expert  in  aquarium  setup   or  full  time  hobbyist.  when  i  was  studying  9th  standard  i  used  to  grow  some  white  and  black  moleys.  i  will  upgrade  tank.  which  one  is  better   sponge  or  power  filter.  now  have  idea  to  get  tank  size  of  3.5(42cm)*1.5(18cm)*2(24cm).  any  other  decoration  material?  or  required  material?  i  will  update  all  once  i  update  my  tank  Thumbs Up   Thumbs Up

With  a  tank  of  that  dimention  you  will  need  two  sponge  filters.  Powerfilters  are  not  necessary  as  long  as  you  do  weekly  30%  waterchange  including  bottom  siphoning.  And  please  replace  the  changed  water  with  a  matured  and  de-chlorinated  one.  Also  maintain  the  temp  around  28  deg  C  and  not  below  that.  That  will  be  just  be  fine.  Smile  what  do  you  feed  him???

So  you  don't  have  to  think  much  his  head  will  pop  up

so  you  mean  that  it  is  all  over  abt  size  of  hump?  Sad   as  per  the  classification  mentioned  in  some  sites  my  fish  is  same  like  ZZ  long  finn,  not  wide  tail,  colour,  very  aggressive  (always  following  my  finger  and  my  small  kid's)  when  i  prepare  to  feed  the  actvities  are  same  like  dog  shaking  its  tail.  but  normally  kamfa's  don't.  it's  only  reading  knowledge  from  internet  not  real  one.  correct  me  if  am  wrong

His  head  will  pop  up  means  it  will  become  bigger  with  time.Agree  Unlike  a  zz  it  will  not  extend  upwards,  instead  it  will  extend  in  forward  direction  like  a  kamfa. Its  called  a  torpedo  head.  And  as  i  mentioned  your  fh  is  a  cross  b/w  zz  and  kamfa,  so  it  will  also  have  some  zz  traits.  Regarding  the  aggression  and  finger  chasing  that  is  a  common  quality  of  all  fh  breeds....

i  am  feeding  pellets  as  usual  (brand  CP,  cheap  and  very  well  eaten  by  FH)  occasionally  with  chick  's  liver,  prawn,  white  moley  and  gold  fish  at  times.  what  is  bottom  siphoning?  sea  is  located  in  2kms  distance.  i  am  using  ground  water.  do  we  need  check  the  PH  level  and  any  other  level?  is  that  really  necessary?

And  one  more  query,  breeding  is  really  necessary?   naturally  it  is  must  for  all  living  things  in  world.
if  that  is  the  case  what  can  i  do?  or  i  can  leave  about  thinking  this  matter  (very  imp  query)  Clapping

Fh's  accept  any  food.  But  CP  is  not  at  all  a  good  food  for  fh's.  Try  feeding  him  XO  humpy  head  or  similar  products  that  are  specially  made  for  fh's.  Grandsumo  is  the  best  if  its  available  in  your  area.  Also  try  feeding  dried  shrimps  twice  or  thrice  a  week.  its  available  in  lfs.  Please  stop  feeding  chicken  liver  and  live  fishes.  they  can  introduce  parasites  in  your  fish.  Regarding  water,  Fh's  need  slightly  basic  ph  i.e.  7-7.8.  Regarding  breeding,  no  need  for  that.

Bottom  siphoning  means  to  clear  the  poo's  or  the  excretions  made  by  the  fish  with  a  siphon.
