 Hi  guys,

 Anybody  heard  about  http://www.aquariumsindia.com/index.ph

The  address  is  mentioned  as  below:  But  no  contact  details  are  provided,  however,  they  claim  (after  email  on  their  whereabouts)  that  they  have  served  over  the  past  5  years  more  than  5000  individuals...

 Contact  details  :
 Gautam  Jaiswal
 Library  Road
 Kalitala,  Balitikuri
Howrah  711  113,  West  Bengal,  India

Has  anybody  dealt  with  them  before  and  what  has  been  the  experience...

However,  i  am  desperately  waiting  for  a  a  reputed  firm  to  open  a  aquarium  shop  in  India  keeping  different  brands  under  one  roof...  this  wish  may  get  fulfilled  if  www.amazon.com  open  their  online  store  in  India...  just  check  amazon's  selection  under  pet  supplies....

You  have  to  "buy"  assurance  for  online  transactions.  That  is  not  available  to  you!
No  one  on  IAH  can  guarantee  you  assurance,  there  will  be  instances  where  a  "crony"  "may"  post  excellent  feedback.

Online  purchases  in  India  are  at  best  dubious  with  very  little  or  nil   redressal  for  buyer's  complaints.
Don't  let  greed  for  your  hobby  get  into  you,  be  patient  and  try  other  sources  like  fellow  hobbyists  &  local  clubs,  even  ebay  is  better  than  Indian  online  vendors  catering  to  hobbies.

So  far  except  for  www.flipkart.com  which  is  run  very  professionally,  I  have  read  lots  of  complaints  about  every  other  online  sellers.
I  don't  know  how  far  flipkart  will  last  (amazon.com  is  looking  for  a  tie  up  with  flipkart  for  the  Indian  end  of  their  business),  but  they  are  a  start  up  by  very  young  people  and  they  are  looking  at  the  long  term  and  not  the  short  term  daily  morsel.

This  is  by  far  the  most  severe  warning  I  have  posted,  read  it  carefully,  it  does  not  pertain  at  any  particular  online  vendor.  Chuckle

 Thanks  Madan  for  your  suggestions,

Having  bought  stuff  from  Amazon  before  i  am  totally  convinced  about  what  they  promise  and  sell  and  also  their  online  customer  support  and  hoping  they  start  soon  in  India...

Keeping  my  patience  for  buying  from  any  online  website...

@Travelmonk:  I  request  you  to  give  that  web  portal  a  miss  unless  you  want  sleepless  nights.  I  have  had  experience  with  them.  The  reason  they  don't  have  a  legitimate  contact  number/details  is  for  the  same  reason.

 Thanks,

 Ryel

I  second  that.  Its  not  worth  it.  I  too  wanted  to  get  alot  of  stuff  from  that  site  seeing  the  product  list.  But  i  have  already  been  cheated  by  IndiaPetStore.com  once,  i  don't  want  it  to  happen  again.

I  had  brought  couple  of  items  for  aquariumsindia.com  i.e.  CDs  and  API  test  kit.  Though  there  was  a  slight  delay  I  received  the  ordered  stuff.  I  was  able  to  speak  with  the  guy  himself  couple  of  times  on  the  phone.  However  it  seems  he  avoids  calls,  again  looks  like  he  runs  the  .com  business  part  time.  Extra  Rs/$'s  Smile  )  and  runs  JIT  inventory.

Disclaimer:  Make  your  own  decisions  regarding  buying  from  aforementioned  site.

Thanks  for  your  feedback.  No  offense  but  I  would  be  more  comfortable  is  someone  with  more  posts  under  their  belt  could  give  a  positive  feedback  about  AI.

Travelmonk,  if  you  want  things  in  Mumbai  you  will  have  to  get  out  of  your  house  and  scour  around  personally.  Sitting  at  home  on  your  computer  wont  get  you  anything.  Making  friends  with  other  hobbyists  also  helps.  It's  hard  to  believe  you  cant  find  common  equipment  like  powerheads  and  air  pumps.  Even  in  a  aqua  desert  like  Mumbai  these  are  readily  available.

For  powerheads  and  air  pumps  you  can  start  with  Nautilus  in  Bandra,  or  Crawford  market  or  Kurla.  Most  mumbai  hobbyists  buy  their  lighting  equipment  from  fakhruddin.  His  shop  is  in  South  bombay.  Put  in  some  effort  and  you'll  find  most  things  without  having  to  go  online.

 Regards  Sid

 +1  to  this.  Thumb Up
Atleast  hobbyists  in  Mumbai  should  not  block  money  &  burn  their  fingers  later  with  Online  Lootstores.  We  have  everything  available  here,  especially  dry  good  part.
