 Hi  Guys,

Last  week  I  observed  there  is  lots  of  babies  in  my  pond  ....there  was  a  pair  of  Rainbow  (  I  forgot  the  name),  greenish  body  with  stripes  which  very  similar  to  -  Northern  Rainbowfish  -  Melanotaenia  solata  (Taylor,  1964)  Darwin  Rainbowfish,  Adelaide  River  Rainbowfish.

Can  anybody  provide  the  exact  name  of  this  rainbow  fish  !!  I  can't  take  pictuce  also  bcz  both  the  parents  are  died  yesterday.  Don't  know  why  !!  But  babies  are  ok......

And  should  be  the  food  for  them  !!  I  have  lots  of  plans  in  my  ponds  ....

Except  rainbow  I  have  few  sowrdtail  babies  &  Pleco  .....

Guessing  the  name  of  any  fish  without  looking  at  it  is  hazardous.

Are  you  asking  whether  you  should  feed  the  fry  or  not?  I  used  to  add  crushed  Tetra  bits  when  I  had  Dwarf  Neon  Rainbow(Melanotaenia  praecox)  fry  in  my  tubs.  Plants  in  your  ponds  are  good  for  them.  Just  make  sure  you  do  not  have  Dragonfly  larvae.  They  will  feed  on  your  rainbow  fry.

 Regards,

 Hi,

Rainbow  fish  fries  used  to  be  tiny,  hence  likely  to  become  food  for  other  fishes  in  the  tank,  better  separate  it  and  feed  them  with  egg  yolk  solution  till  it  grows  relatively  large  enough  to  escape  from  other  fishes.
