@  Sushant...  Light  is  200  watts  which  is  3.5wpg.  CO2  I  have  increased  to  3-4  bps.  Liquid  fert  dosing  stopped  to  control  black  algae.

Gurus..  pls  suggest  is  it  the  correct  method.

Also  pls  guide  me  on  ideas  to  improve  the  layout

 Regards

Sanjay,  nice  tank.  Stopping  the  dosing  when  you  are  having  high  lights  and  pressurised  co2  will  not  help.  This  is  when  plants  need  the  most  amount  of  nutrients.  Your  idea  of  depriving  algae  of  nutrients  will  effect  your  plants  as  well.  Simply  keep  up  the  dosing  and  provide  consistent  Co2  to  encourage  plant  growth,  keep  up  the  regular  water  changes.  If  BBA  is  limited  to  few  places  try  scraping  it  off  or  trim  that  part  of  the  plant.

IMO  its  almost  impossible  to  have  an  algae  free  tank,  so  u  need  to  find  a  balance  to  keep  them  to  the  minimum.  and  this  balance  can  be  achieved  only  by  balancing  the  amount  of  light,  fert  and  co2.Rahul  rightly  pointed  out  that  lowering  the  fert  level  won't  be  of  much  help  because  this  will  even  starve  the  plants  and  then  this  deficiency  could  easily  been  seen  on  the  plants.

 Thanx  Anand,  angel_lover  and  sushant

Sorry  for  the  late  reply  ..I  was  not  keeping  well.

I  can  see  slight  decline  in  black  algae.  As  suggested  by  you  .  I  have  recontinued  dosing  and  increased  co2  to  4  bps.  Giant  Ambulia  has  algae  stuck  to  its  fine  leaves  which  is  persistent.  No  clue  on  how  to  remove  it.

I  would  really  appreciate  suggestions/guidance  to  better  the  layout  and  looks  of  the  tank.

 Regards

 Sanjay  Dubey

Sanjay  look  around  the  forum  or  the  net  for  contest  winning  scapes  or  good  scapes  in  general.  See  what  you  like  among  those,  you  are  the  best  judge  in  this  regard.  Pick  up  a  few  which  you  could  incorporate  into  your  tank  with  locally  available  hardscape  materials  and  plants.  I'm  sure  you  could  make  it  much  better.

 Thanx  Rahul

Those  are  lovely  links  with  lots  of  ideas.

Second  link  is  not  working  .  Can  you  pls  repost  it.

Is  it  correct  that  black  background  makes  a  good  contrast?

 Regards

Link  corrected.  Hopefully  it  works.  Black  background  does  provide  good  contrast  against  light  greens.  But  you  know  there  are  plenty  of  shades  of  greens  and  colours  in  the  aquarium.  And  in  order  to  highlight  dark  woods  and  hardscape  brighter  backgrounds  may  be  better.  Hence  cannot  provide  a  comprehensive  solution.
