 Hi,
 Finally  got  addicted  to  discus.Cheering
I'm  a  newbie  in  keeping  discus.  Bought  10  juvis  of  different  strains.

 Tank  specs
Tank  size  :  1ft  cube  for  time  being  (bare  bottom)
 WC  :  daily  once  40%
Feeding  :  Frozen  Artemia  (Twice  but  some  times  thrice)
 Temp  ¬†:  30  deg
 Filtration  :  Bio  Foam  filter
Tank  Inmates  :  cardinal  tetra  (4  nos)

Is  that  tank  size  sufficient  or  should  I  get  a  bigger  one?
Please  help  me  regarding  the  tank  size,WC,feeding  and  temp..

Is  the  above  mentioned  tank  specs  ¬†sufficient  or  Should  I  do  some  changes  in  it?

 Waiting  for  your  suggestions..

 Thanks,

Hey  Nandy  congrats  on  your  Discus.  Well  for  the  numbers  you  have  you  do  need  a  bigger  tank  say  a  minimum  4ft.  The  juvis  in  no  time  will  be  adults  but  if  you  keep  them  in  a  small  area  their  growth  rate  will  definitely  hamper  and  they  may  run  out  of  space  and  shape  also.  Rest  whatever  you  are  doing  is  fine.

Second  ruchit.  Tank  size  should  be  at  least  3ft.  And  your  WC  should  be  more  considering  the  tank  size  and  the  size  of  the  discus.

 @Ruchit  :  Thanks,
Out  of  10,  6  of  them  are  just  1"  in  size  and  the  rest  four  are  approx  2-2.5".4  footer  as  of  now  will  be  slightly  impossible  due  to  space  constraints.  I  have  another  spare  tank  of  24*12*15.  Can  i  keep  the  discus  in  that  tank  for  about  a  month  and  later  transfer  them  to  a  slightly  bigger  tank.?

@adeesh8028  :  Normally  for  discus  juvis,  how  much  %  of  WC  should  be  done  daily?

Four  2-2.5"  and  six  1"  discus  PLUS  4  cardinals  in  one  feet  cube  Tank  ???????
Surprised   Surprised   Surprised   Surprised   Surprised   Surprised   Surprised   i  cant  believe  it  .....
Please  introduce  them  to  your  24*12*15  tank  now  itself  otherwise  it  will  hurt  you  more  than  your  discus.
Even  you  do  a  100%  WC  to  your  one  feet  tank  with  10  discus  PLUS  4  cardinals,  i  think  it  will  not  work  out....

 Experts  Please  advise  him......

@Ratheesh  :  a  LFS  guy  told  me  that  i  can  manage  in  one  ft  cube  for  a  month.  But  was  not  satisfied  with  his  suggestion.  Will  definitely  move  them  to  my  2ft  tank  today  itself.  But  that  tank  has  2  inches  of  river  sand  in  it.  Should  I  make  it  a  bare  bottom  tank  and  then  transfer  my  discus  or  else  transfer  it  directly  with  river  sand  in  tank?

Nandy  ,Usually  we  need  to  go  for  a  Quarantine  process  for  discus  after  we  purchase.
It  is  advisable  too  do  Quarantine  process  in  Bare  bottom  tank  rather  than  the  tank  with  the  river  sand.
Also  the  discus  will  feel  more  happy  in  BB  ank.
So  please  add  them  to  Bare  bottom  tank.
If  you  are  new  to  Discus  keeping,  please  go  for  BB  tank  so  that  the  maintenance  and  water  changes  are  easy.

PLEASE  NOTE:  Please  use  old  water  to  your  2  feet  tank  before  introduce  the  fish  to  the  tank

 Happy  Discus  keeping

Thanks  Ratheesh,  Will  surely  use  old  water.  But  the  person  whom  I  got  discus  told  that  he  has  already  done  the  quarantine  process.  (Not  the  LFS  guy).  When  I  had  gone  to  purchase  these  discus,  he  had  kept  it  in  a  BB  tank  and  the  color  of  water  was  light  brownish.  He  told  as  soon  as  he  gets  a  new  stock  he  quarantine  it..

Could  you  please  tell  me  how  to  do  the  quarantine  process   (for  my  knowledge  sake)  ?

I  feet  is  too  small   Shocked
if  you  considering  this  as  a  quarantine  tank  then  it  should  be  minimum  2  feet  for  this  lot  size  for  about  15  days  then  you  have  to  shift  them  in  minimum  3  feet  or  40gallons  exclusively  for  discus  and  BB.
80%  daily  water  change  with  constant  temperature  in  your  current  set  up.
50t  %  daily  when   you  shift  them  to  bigger  tank
also  feed  them  discus  bio  and  tetra  bits

@Ratheesh  :  Thanks  for  the  link,  Shiva  Sir  has  explained  very  clearly  .
I  have  sent  you  PM.  Please  check  it.
I  have  id  a  few  strains  viz  Red  Melons  and  Snow  White  .  There  is  one  more  strain  similar  to  red  melon  I  think  its  super  red  melon.
