 Hi
I  was  thinking  of  painting  my  tank's  background.  Googling  it  showed  many  ppl  hv  painted  it  but  they  suggested  of  some  paint  brand  that  is  available  outside  India.  I  was  wondering  if  anybody  has  experience  painting  the  background,  and  if  you  can  please  suggest  the  brand/method  you  used.

 Thanks
 Babu

 ant  oil  paint  will  work
place  the  tank  so  that  the  painting  surface  is  parellel  to  the  floor  and   paint  a  thick  layer  and  leave  it  for  24  hours  in  that  position
this  will  not  let  the  paint  to  drip  down  and  will  look  neat  from  other  end
 paint  looks  beautiful

You  can  use  Camel  or  any  other  oil  paint.  As  long  as  you  paint  from  the  outside  you  dont  need  to  worry.  And  there  is  no  problem  with  brands  too,  because  black  is  black  no  matter  what,  If  you  arent  satisfied  with  the  current  shade  you  can  put  another  layer.

Also  get  a  size  10  (or  whatever  thickest  painting  brush)  brush.  It  will  save  time.  And  dont  mix  water  while  painting,  just  paint  directly.  a  small  10g  bottle  was  more  than  enough  for  my  2fter.  Smile

I  would  suggest  you  to  do  a  spray  painting  which  will  give  very  good  finish.  Using  brush  when  you  paint,  it  can  give  the  brush  marks  in  the  glass.

But  make  sure  that  you  cover  all  the  other  sides  of  the  glass  properly  with  newspaper  and  then  start  the  spray  painting.

Have  a  look  at  this  you  tube  video  on  spray  painting  on  glass.  Spray  Painting

Disclaimer:  Video  is  not  mine.  Googled  in  Youtube..

Note:  I  dont  know  if  we  get  the  kind  of  spray  paint  used  in  this  video.  But  we  can  use  the  normal  spray  paint  which  is  done  in  any  car/metal  painting  shops.  Have  a  look  at  spray  -  hand  brushed  painted  glass  and  take  a  decision   Thumb Up

Thanks  for  the  link  Shelly,  this  is  exactly  what  I  bumped  into  as  well  -  the  KRYLON  paint  that  everybody  was  recommending  but  not  available  here.  I'll  check  if  we  can  get  spray  paint  cans  locally  of  some  other  brand.

 Hey,

You  can  check  in  JC  road  where  all  the  Car  things  are  dealt  with.  You  might  get  there.  My  friend  suggested  me  the  same.  But  it  might  be  expensive  than  the  local  spray  paint.

In  addition,  you  might  have  to  apply  some  primer  before  you  do  the  painting.
