My  first  attempt  for  a  cichlid  setup.  Though  its  nowhere  near  an  original  biotope  Chuckle  Just  tried  to  keep  it  simple.  Collected  the  rocks  during  a  recent  trip  to  north  Bengal,  from  the  river  Murti.  Wanted  to  bring  a  lot  more  but  couldn't  due  to  the  enormous  weight  of  luggage  I  was  already  carrying  Chuckle  Recently  there  is  a  parrot  residing  in  it  and  it  will  be  moved  soon  to  another  tank.  Please  friends  give  me  some  ideas  by  which  I  can  enhance  the  beauty  of  the  setup  and  also  suggest  me  the  fishes  suitable.  Waiting  eagerly  for  replies.....  Very Happy

 @  Mridul  ,

Nice  setup.  Your  pot  caves  are  looking  good.  I  liked  the  way  it  is  placed.  Even  the  rocks  placing  is  good.  But  I  feel  the  background  image  is  foiling  the  rock&Pot  scape.  Could  you  try  with  a  plain  background.  Preferably  a  black  background?

 Hi

The  lighting  is  looking  way  too  high  for  the  setup.  To  the  extent  where  I  cant  even  recognize  the  colors(of  rocks....fish..etc)  which  makes  the  setup  look  ugly.

Then,  get  a  decent  single  color  baground  like  dark  blue  or  black!  OR  Stick  those  chart  papers  on  different  sheets  of  thermocole  and  put  it  behind  the  tank.  Hence,  you  can  have  many  different  bagrounds

BTW,  What  filtration  you  have?  I  can  see  only  a  power  head.

About  fish,  please  do  mention  the  size  of  the  tank.  It  is  looking  like  a  2.5ft  tank  to  me.

 nice  tank.  Smile

as  mentioned  by  many, plain  black  or  blue  background  would  be  better...i  personally  like  dark  blue  background, and  prefer  brown  sand.that  way  fish  colours  are  more  visible.

also  dim  down  the  lights  a  bit.

 cheers.

The  rock  formation  looks  unstable,  take  care  that  fish  do  not  topple  it,  these  are  large  rocks  and  can  crack  your  tanks.
Are  these  rocks  standing  on  sand,  or  at  the  bottom  glass,  they  should  be  on  glass.
Cichlids  are  good  diggers  of  sand  ,  and  if  they  move  sand  near  base  of  rocks  every  thing  might  come  down.
What  cichlids  are  you  planning  for  this  setup.

Thanx  for  your  comment  sameer.  Replaced  the  lighting  with  a  much  more  dimmer  blue  florescent  tube.  I'm  just  loving  the  blue  effect.  Do  let  me  your  views....
And  regarding  your  queries....  The  tank's  dimension  is  3"-1.5"-1.5".  Right  now  its  only  having  a  Dolphin  top  filter  (1200l/hr)  as  the  filtration.  Added  ceramic  rings  and  activated  carbon  for  better  chemical  filtration  Smile

As  it  is  my  first  rocky  setup,  I  never  considered  these  points  while  creating.  I  think  thats  why  experience  comes  handy....  Chuckle  Checked  the  main  rock  bases  and  now  they  are  standing  on  the  bottom  glass.  Thank  you  so  much  sandeep  sir  for  the  valuable  contribution.  Very Happy  I  don't  have  much  ideas  about  different  types  of  cichlids  i.e.  SA/CA/African.  Just  don't  want  to  overpopulate  it  and  keep  the  types  that  suits  my  setup  Smile
