There  will  defiantly   be  some  die-off  from  the  rock  which  will  cause  an  ammonia  spike  and  might  kill  some  of  the  fish..

 Hi  All,

just  wanted  to  know  what  is  this  white  patch  that  has  been  deposited  on  my  tank  glass.

I  tried  to  wipe  it  out  with  a  soft  cloth  but  it  is  not  going  away.

are  these  salt  deposits  and  if  so  how  to  remove  them  as  they  look  ugly.

 please  advise

They  are  either  calcium  deposits  or  salt  creep,  salt  creep  can  easily  be  removed  with  a  damp  cloth.

As  for  calcium  deposits,  use  a  cuttle  fish  bone.  (  Available  at  most  pet  shops  )

yajur  the  salt  was  premixed  outside  the  tank  in  a  bucket.

Just  wet  a  piece  of  the  bone  and  use  it  like  any  scrubber...

 Hi  All,

I  tried  to  break  a  big  piece  of  live  rock  of  which  i  have  already  post  a  picture  in  this  thread

i  could  not  put  it  in  the  tank  because  it  was  too  big,

so  i  took  a  hammer  and  a  chisel  and  tried  to  break  it  into  smaller  pieces.

during  the  process  of  breaking  the  rock  was  smelling  like  anything.

i  was  able  to  break  it  into  3  smaller  parts  but  the  thing  is  2  pieces  came  out  very  well

but  one  of  the  pieces  has  now  become  like  a  skeleton  (its  like  the  entire  vegetation  removed  or  the  top  cover  peeled  off)

i  understood  that  the  living  things  have  been  removed  and  now  looks  in  dull  white  color  with  lots  of  holes  with  no  green  or  any  growth  on  it

should  i  throw  this  piece  away  as  it  will  be  useless  or  can  i  use  this  piece  too  in  the  tank.

it  doesnt  look  as  colorful  as  the  other  2  pieces.

will  this  harm  my  tank  or  willit  be  fine  to  put  in  the  tank  along  with  the  other  two.

 kindly  adivse,picture  below

The  rock  looks  fine.  You  are  not  going  to  kill  the  live  rock  just  by  cutting  it.  If  it  is  smelling,  there  is  probably  a  lot  of  die  off  and  the  rock  needs  to  be  cured.  Once  you  put  it  in  the  tank  the  skimmer  will  start  putting  out  extra  skimmate  which  you  may  need  to  empty  frequently  depending  on  the  amount  of  die  off.  There  will  probably  be  an  ammonia  spike  in  the  water  which  will  mostly  kill  any  fish  or  invertebrate.  Once  the  ammonia  and  nitrite  become  zero  in  about  a  couple  of  weeks  you  will  need  to  do  a  large  water  change,  wait  for  may  be  a  week  and  check  parameters  (  NH4,  No2  and  No3)  and  then  start  adding  fish  if  the  paramenters  are  ok.

Looks  like  he  killed  them,  if  you  check  the  dates  of  the  videos...

Anyways...  I  don't  see  why  people  can  follow  instructions.  Test  your  damn  tank  water  then  do  a  water  change  if  all  the  parameter  (Ammonia,  Nitrite  are  0  and  Nitrate  is  Low)  then  do  a  water  change  and  add  a  single  fish  a  day  later..!!
