In last Nov , I visited the tarapora aquarium, Could not see any new aquariums. But the condition of the aquariums and the fishes were horrible. They were not even fullfilling the basic requirement. Their discuss tank had one discus, but dead with tubifex all over the tank. It's pethetic !!!
Surely it has not improved since that time !!

Taraporewala Aquarium is a legendary public aquarium located at marine drive - Mumbai! - A master piece in wrong hands
It was the first of it's kind in the whole country once upon a time - I remember standing in a loong 'q' for almost an hour just to buy tickets - I used to visit everytime I went to mumbai as a child. Of-course, alone so I could take my own sweet time to admire the marine fish I was so obsessed with as a child - The most fascinating memory was to see a marine shark 'alive' in the jumbo sized tanks - as a child it did not matter as to what was the species and even a shoal of the good old 'sargeant majors' (Abudefduf saxatilis) looked fascinating! (You won't believe this but, the first marine fish I kept for me and did not sell was infact a sargeant major - a 'marine cichlid' in the true sense!)
I however stopped my regular visits when I became a fishkeeper myself and started to understand fishkeeping - (I thought if I went there again - I'd surely fight with the care-takers ) |

Well I read the board every time I pass the road as I come there quite often to my relatives - (bro. in law as much an aquarist himself) and I discuss with him always to visit the place - But, Mumbai is so time consuming due to all the traffic jams that it is always a plan for the next visit |

I want to visit this place. Would anyone be interested in joining me? Call me up at 28770036, or e-mail me at akudewan [at] gmail [dot] com
It would be boring going alone, you know. Lets team up...like the people in Hyderabad and Bangalore do |
